Remember BillBinLV from NWP? He now runs a company where you can film your own fake televised final table

I guess this would be kind of cool from the standpoint of a poker fanboy. Any serious poker player who does this should shoot himself.

BTW, I am not bringing this up because Micon was at the table. I actually think this is an interesting business idea, though I am wondering if there will be enough market for it (since each player has to cough up $250 in production fees.)

Oh, and here's a picture of Srsly Sirius on the right, who was also present for the beta testing of it:

None of the people for the beta test had to pay for the experience, BTW.

Can't wait until some sucker from the real world backs someone based on their mockumentary final table. No one from the poker world would fall for this, but I can almost guarantee someone tries to get backed from the unsuspecting after showing them a clip of them winning $2 million on one of these, assuming there isn't a disclaimer watermarked right on it. I can't get a video clip, is the beta available to be viewed, or just the stills? Good luck to Bill, he always seemed like a nice guy iirc.

The only way I see this catching on if they try to market this for corporate functions or casino night fundraisers.

As Grump said in the blog, my understanding is that the video of this match will be played on screens at the Rio throughout the summer.

As Druff said, this isn't a thing for serious players. It's for fun, and I think it's a good value. It's a professional setup they have, and I think tourists and casual players and such are really going to love this.

The whole thing is basically a simulation of a WPT final table, minus the audience. You sit at a table with bright lights and multiple cameras pointing at you. When you bust out, a beautiful girl escorts you to an interview area, where the host talks to you about how everything went down. The cards and chips have RFID transmitters in them. This allows for an overlay on the video to automatically show hole cards, bet sizes, pot size, etc. on an overlay on the screen. Just like a televised poker event.

There is an announcers' booth away from the table, but they make it so that you can't hear anything they're saying. Probably because they're discussing everyone's hand. Before you sit down to play, you fill out a form with some information about yourself, which I suppose the announcers use in the "broadcast". I'm a little embarrassed now because I filled my form with some jokey answers, and they'll probably bust my balls a little bit. I listed my occupation as internet celebrity, several song titles as accomplishments in poker (since I have no real ones), and in answer to what I'd do with the money if I won the WSOP main event: two chicks at the same time.

After busting out, I saw some of the live video "broadcast" in the green room, and it looked very much like a WPT broadcast. There was no audio on that screen, so I still haven't heard what the commentary is like. Hopefully they went easy on me. I was also a bit nervous for no particular reason, because I'm obv. a freak and a weird dude. You get a DVD of the whole thing at some point (another great selling point to tourist types). I don't know if they hand it out at the end or mail it to you or what, but I hear that one will be available of the "event" I played.

I don't know how accurate of a simulation this is, as I have only watched one WPT final table in person, a handful of WSOP final tables, and played in zero of either. Grump is correct that the structure is very fast, but I don't think it would be ideal to have these things lasting 4+ hours.

Anyway, I think it was a lot of fun. I'm sure this thing will be a success.

Great idea, but the price point needs to be alot lower. 99 dollars would be the perfect selling price. Also you need to get some promotion among the casinos to expand client base.

I won't make the mistake of underestimating the value Americans can get from fake ego stroking, however this would be an outright fail in any other country.

I actually was thinking about something similar to this but set up differently and geared toward home poker games at one point. It's a good idea, similar to those old VHS tapes of people on the star trek ship or whatever, I almost feel like this would work and be successful somewhere like Universal Studios over Las Vegas and marketed as a novelty.

The one thing I did notice from the pics is the table looks very homegame/private club like, with the suited speedcloth and small rail, I think getting a casino table would be a solid investment for these guys.

    Good luck with it.

    Concerned citizen,

I have no affiliation or vested interest in the Final Table Experience. I was invited to participate in the Beta, and it sounded fun, so I accepted. I also didn't plan on describing my experience there in any detail, but this thread came along so there you go. I was also told that when this thing gets played at the Rio, my name will be displayed as "Thomas". I very much doubt that anyone will recognize my face, so I'm hardly whoring myself out in that regard.

Thank you for the kind words, though. Hopefully one day I'll manage to parlay my talent and creativity into large sums of cash money and beautiful large-breasted women.

    Warmest regards,

    -SrslySirius

I don't have a mustache. That's probably a little stubble and some deceptive angles/lighting. As of this morning, I'm completely clean shaven.

There was a cool thread 0n 2+2 in "Home Poker," where a guy tried to build one of there just to see if he could do it.

Gotta agree with my Dwan-loving friend here.

The idea is interesting and has potential, but it needs some fine tuning to be successful.

    The biggest problems I see:

    1) The price. $249 is just too damn high for nine people to come up with for something like this, especially since you WON'T be getting degenerate poker pros doing it.

    2) Getting nine people for this will be tough. Tourists rarely travel in packs of nine. And it will have to become really popular in order to be able to find enough smaller groups to combine for a nine-handed table.

    3) Las Vegas locals won't be interested, for the most part, because Vegas locals are burnt out on gimmickry.

The best chance this has of succeeding is partnering with a major hotel and having it be part of a package they sell to tourists. That would send in a constant stream of people. Otherwise I don't see this working.

Think it is very good if done properly.

To people saying its too expensive I disagree. This is marketted at rich business guys who go to those real life fantasy camps (often drop 10k on poker weekends just for training). My only suggestion would be getting 2-3 pros to play in each game with the guys. Would really draw in a lot more players.

I agree with druff about the 9 person thing which is why putting in pros would help.
