I have disabled Cometchat to stop the server errors

Even though I really like Cometchat, it seems that the server problems starting around the time I installed Cometchat.

I read various discussions on the web complaining that Cometchat sometimes bogs down servers, so I've been watching it closely. The server load was still very low, so I thought everything was okay, but this was too much of a coincidence for me.

I also found that the server was having a lot of memory allocation errors, which I'm not sure were happening before, because it's the first time I checked the error logs.

Bottom line: I'm going to leave it off for awhile, and see if things improve. If they do, and I can't find the reason that Cometchat was causing these favors, we're gonna have to do without it.

Please let me know if you still see the server errors.

Well, I just got an error myself, so maybe poor Cometchat wasn't to blame.

I'm still going to leave it off for now.

Okay, Cometchat may still have been causing it, as it was stilll accessing the scripts even when disabled (probably because people hadn't refreshed their page in awhile).

I have put a stop to that, and we'll see what happens.

Personally, I could care less. If people want to chat, let them post what they want to say, take it to PM, or to a chat program like AIM or Windows Live. The important thing is that when I type something into this field, it types in smoothly, allows easy edits and formatting, and looks good when I hit submit.

Could not agree less. Chatting is fun and it saves me giving any of these horrible pond life any more information about me than they need (i.e skype/aim/msn). Get chat back, accept a few glitches.
