But a socialist health care program equals long waits and no option when choosing a doctor! Not true; you can drop your m.d. for any reason. If you have to hit the emergency ward you will see bleeders go to the head of the line but that's a lot better than going into debt or being turned away.
Having your own specialist plays well in a rich and famous culture but it's not real world.

Your military receives the same free pass as the medical establishment except they get whatever money the government can scrape off already failing social
programs.

They know they're fucking over a shitload of people, they know people will die (including kids) for their massive tax cut. I see what you mean now. I did use socialism purposely because it has been used and abused too often. And it's just a word describing the agreed control of the basic needs we all have. It can be taken to an extreme or not just as a complete free market could or not.

Lot's can go wrong in any large endeavour and fingers are pointed often but the element of widespread greed at the expense of fellow citizens does not plague the socially funded system as it appears to in the private programs

I dislike control of government generally but am completely for it in particular cases.

Hate to break it to you, but the only country that has universal healthcare with a comparable population and geographical area is Russia. Make with that what you will.

Population shouldn't be used in a comparison, but GDP/capita could. If you can find some goods stats for da states in a fair comparison that would be interesting.
