On a short hiatus from posting in this thread, but i'll answer this.
A petition was started from a random member of the public to block Trump from having a 'State Visit'... which is due to happen this summer... If the petition reaches over 100k signatures then it becomes mandatory for parliament to hold a debate on the matter. That was what happened today.... I watched some of it and there was support from some MP's for the petition to be upheld. But the chances of this actually happening a pretty much zero...
A State Visit involves the full red carpet treatment. Like a banquet headed by the Queen and B&B at the Palace etc.
It's pretty much unheard of for a US President to be offered a State Visit during his first year in office. Makes it even more of a surprise decision considering the controversy surrounding Trump. It will 100% be overshadowed by protests - which will be HUUUUGE.
There's was much less noise made when we gave the Chinese and Saudi leaders a State Visit... Which basically expresses how much contempt the British public holds for Trump.
While i'm here.
Thought somebody might've mentioned the sudden death of the Russian Ambassador to the UN - Vitaly Churkin. Who died in New York today.
A man who has ties to Trump going back to the 80's, when it was then USSR.
Tis kinda interesting if you believe the whole Trump/Russia conspiracy thing.
Thread made weeks before the Ambassadors surprise sudden death.
