The bottom line is that most GOPers only care about the deficit when reducing it doesn't affect anyone they don't personally know. And they will readily defend low tax rates on financial capital earnings while sticking working folks with higher income tax rates on their *human* capital earnings to pay for all that bloated military spending.

Quantitative Easing in practice artificially lowers the interest rate the government can borrow at.

Government can afford to borrow more money, at least in the short term.

He didn't need to appoint someone ingrained in the education field, but he could have at least appointed someone with a fair amount of knowledge of the issues facing public school systems, and one who wasn't prone to making wacky/weird statements.

Education definitely needs reform, but I don't think she's the right one for the job.

I do think it's likely that Hillary would have appointed some bureaucrat who would have kept the status quo, so that wouldn't have been very good, either.

She does have almost 25 years of experiencing with PACs and dealing with education. Their PAC wrote their first bill in 1993 for education reform in Michigan.
