also that targetsmart/william & mary poll is interesting, but may be misleading. they are the only pollsters i've seen that try to record actual early voting, but i don't think they get their vote totals from the actual Secretary of State like their tweet suggested. their methodology says this: "The survey reached 311 respondents who voted early in the 2016 general election, either absentee, by mail, or in-person, according to data from the Florida Secretary of State that was matched back to the TargetSmart voter file." so i don't know if they're cross-referencing names (is that public?), which might be telling, but not the same as actually looking at votes. this might be more like an exit poll

I think this is a real problem. Information like this can discourage lots of people from going out and voting on Election Day if they believe the race is over. Isn't the goal to get as many people to vote as possible?
