This LA Times poll has been an outlier for a while now. If you go to their explanation they explain that they are using a different methodology than other polls. The methodology isn't crazy or anything, just using the same pool and measure the amount of support and how it changes/how strong it is. you know... my gut tells me this elections is much, much closer than it looks on paper.
america has never been kind to its lower class and the middle class has never been smaller, and thats why trump's message is sticking. his core consumers have absolutely no hope of upwards mobility and 'is trump coarse or even insane' is hardly a concern to people who have to choose between food for their kids and rent if somehow they catch magic on 5th street and bink a job.
so honestly what amazes me most right now is that trump appears to have legit snatched defeat from the jaws of victory because all he had to do to win is stay on the rails and hammer home his 'if youre angry and broke vote for me' theme song, but by no means do i think that hes as far from riding that to a shock victory as we like to think.
you cant accurately poll a demographic that doesnt pick up their phones because 9 out of 10 calls are from bill collectors.
