But there is another view here that many seem to gloss over due to their utter disdain for Trump. The bigger point I was making is that money is routinely used to bribe others into doing what the benefactor wants, including the executive branch to foreign nations, congress to the states, Biden to the Ukraine over particular prosecutors, etc, you get the point. The democrats have been trying to impeach Trump before he even took office. That is not how this is supposed to work -- elections have consequences so we are told. So far they have struck out time and time again. Now they are throwing shit against the wall just waiting to see what, if anything, sticks with the public before pulling the trigger. As I said, there is an election coming up shortly and if he needs to be removed, it should happen the way it was intended.

it really can't "equally" be viewed that way. i know you're somewhat playing devil's advocate, but one version of events is ridiculous (the one you suggest above) and one isn't.

we don't have to accept any version of events told by trump as true. that's not how this works. gee, other than ukraine, i wonder how many calls trump personally made to other sketchy countries receiving our aid to make sure they publicly announce an investigation into corruption -- not actually investigate -- just announce an investigation.
