A conservative Christian relative sent me a link to the video clip by Bill O’Reilly, who says that Trump didn’t do anything that violated the law or Constitution in his call with Ukraine’s president.



This speaks to why the GOP-dominated Senate will not convict Trump over this matter after the House impeaches him: Trump’s religious base, which controls the GOP, will defend him to no end.

Many Christians feel like they're under extreme attack by the left (which they actually are), so they are grasping onto Trump as the figure who is most trying to fight the left off.

To them, "Make America Great Again" isn't a racist dogwhistle, but rather means "Make America Respectful of Christianity Again".

The crazy thing is that Trump constantly goes against the bible (think of his many affairs). He even uses the lord's name in vain - something i'm sure many of those voters would have been beaten for if they had said it as kids.
