God. King.
speaking as a trump hater, i'm finding myself less and less encouraged by most of the democratic candidates. i might even prefer trump to a few of them. i still like tulsi, who is less like anyone else running, but none of the other candidates do much for me.
earlier in this thread, i thought kamala harris was a strong candidate, but i'm beginning to become unsure of that. i think this talk of socialism, the green new deal and abolishing private health insurance and ICE are going to be problems for any democrat candidate. i just don't think mainstream americans are with them on most of these issues.
Mainstream Americans favor progressive policies when polled on them individually, but they have been afraid of the label of “socialism” that has been painted on them. Bernie Sanders has proven himself very adept at changing many voters minds, especially when his arguments are backed by objective analysis versus right-wing or corporatist fearmongering. That’s why he was able to embarass the Fox News talking hosts at its recent Town Hall meeting featuring him.
Bottom line? Time to recognize the Power of the Bern, blakester!
as I said about a week ago in the dem nom thread, getting rich may be in play once again

i recognize that bernie sanders has similar appeal to trump in a lot of ways.
i would like his chances better, though, if he was not so adamant about there only being public healthcare and not just having a public option, like most or all other dem candidates.
the idea that there will only be government run healthcare will terrify most voters. that idea needs to be worked in very slowly, after a public option has demonstrated it's not a catastrophe
This might have been true with HillaryCare, but is patently false when it would be as Medicare-for-all. The polling now shows that a majority of voters would be good with it. The people who are terrified of it are the health insurance executives.
But let’s be real. Bernie isn’t so much of an idealist that he won’t accept a plan that includes a phase in to Medicare-for-all. It’s not like he could declare a national emergency absent a bill passed by Congress and force everyone to immediately give up their current healthcare insurance. But he is so very good at explaining why it would be better than the alternatives currently being offered by other candidates that it would very valuable to have him as president to use the bully pulpit to rally support for it.

Robert Mueller Told Congress They Can Prosecute the President. Now It Gets Ugly
http://time.com/5572397/mueller-repo...ress-referral/
But even if Congress doesn’t impeach Trump, which I don’t think it will given Pelosi et. al.’s preference to make it an election issue next year, the evidence that Mueller collected and included in his report could be used to prosecute Trump when he becomes a private citizen.
HOLD THE PRESSES!!!
REPUBLICAN GROUP WILL RUN AD ON FOX NEWS URGING GOP TO HOLD TRUMP ACCOUNTABLE: 'NO EXONERATION, DEFINITELY OBSTRUCTION'

This could get very in-ter-res-sting!
you're completely delusional. absolutely nothing will ever come of this.
you know why the DOJ's success rate is something like 99%? they don't prosecute cases with "difficult questions of law and fact" (per mueller). they only prosecute absolute slam dunks.
if you think they will ever pursue obstruction charges against trump where there was no underlying crime, you're just nuts
and as for impeachment, i think trump would actually welcome that since he'd win the election by 30 points.

THIS IS A SERIOUS HEADLINE: MUELLER REPORT: COUNTRY REACHES OUT TO NEW PRESIDENT OF ANOTHER COUNTRY
uhhhhh the epitome of complete dud much???
The DOJ won’t pursue prosecuting Trump on *any* charges because of the extant DOJ memo saying that a sitting president can’t be prosecuted. But if the Dems wins the presidency back next year, you can bet that the Dems and Never-Trump Republicans will clamor for the DOJ to pursue such charges in order to send a signal to future presidents to not fuck around in that manner. Even if the DOJ isn’t guaranteed a slam dunk, the prosecutiom of Trump will further disgrace Trump *and* reverse the trend of the DOJ giving bad-acting prior presidents a pass after they’ve committed serious abuses of their office.
Oh, and there *were* underlying crimes. Michael Flynn didn’t plead guilty to not paying his parking tickets. Cohen plead guilty, and 10 more indictments have resulted from this investigation.
