you're missing the point. when a democrat gets into office, since "real people" are also dealing with gun violence in chicago and all over the country, maybe the democratic president decides to ban all guns, which he or she could do after declaring an "emergency." who cares about the constitution in an emergency, right?
or maybe the democratic president will mandate the use of all electric cars since climate change is a much bigger emergency than border crossings.
if we go down this road, it will be much worse for republicans than democrats. after all, republicans are supposed to be against big government, while the dems want to use it to solve all our problems. gee, i wonder how this will play out long term.
rant aside, if trump declared an emergency to fund the wall, he would lose 9-0 in the supreme court, so this is kind of a moot point.
