guys, he 100% didn’t know that ignorance of the law wasn’t an excuse. for 10 years the skatz website has been catastrophically fucked up but he can’t fix it

keep this in mind when reading his opinions

yeah i don’t know where i could have gotten the idea that you thought ignorance of the law is a defense

Every post was me saying the same thing. In a situation like this where it is both legal to do if done for one reason and illegal to if done for another, Trump not knowing he broke a law or potentially broke one is actually a defense because it only can become a crime in this situation if there is proof he acted with intent to get around campaign finance laws. There’s absolutely no chance that can be proven without him being recorded or text/email conversations of him saying something along the lines of “blah blah... campaign laws”. He can even admit to purposely trying to conceal it on tv today as long as it’s understood that at least part of his motives were personal.

Totally untrue. It kills you so much that Trump’s economic policies have worked every step of the way. You’ll never admit it but it’s true and it eats you up. Now go back and Red rep posts of mine from months ago you creepy stalker.

You can't indict the current President in office.

But you can prosecute everyone around him.

Goodbye, Jared, Ivanka, Don Jr, Rudy Giuliani, etc.

maybe we're talking past each other here, but you are just walt jr'ing it up here and i'll give this one last shot

    a) if trump said, i want to pay her to avoid damaging my family (and could give a fuck about his campaign) = not a crime.

    b) if trump said, i want to pay her so that she doesn't tank my campaign (and he knows it would be a violation of campaign finance laws) = crime

this next one is where we seem to disagree.....

    c) if trump said, i want to pay her so that she doesn't tank my campaign (and he has no idea it would be a violation of campaign finance laws) = STILL A CRIME

his knowledge about whether his conduct is illegal or not is irrelevant.

the only thing that matters is that he made the payment with the intent to help his campaign. if he wanted to help his campaign, it's illegal regardless of whether he knew it was illegal or not.

in fairness, i am listening to some pretty smart former FEC and DOJ people discussing how paying money to silence a story can't be considered a campaign contribution, and not every benefit paid for the benefit of a campaign must be disclosed.

i suppose none of this has actually been tested in court yet so who knows.

laws where you have to try to read someone's mind (kind of like perjury) are really hard to prove.

Goodbye, Jared, Ivanka, Don Jr, Rudy Giuliani, etc.

But once he leaves office, he can be criminally prosecuted for them. That’s why it would be suh-weet if the Dems could get their shit together and take back the White House in 2020. Then let the criminal charges against him be filed, and eventually he’ll get the justice he deserves!

I think we can all agree had he not won, his ass would be in deep trouble. The only caveat being it’s possible no onc cared if he lost. Dems don’t live in the past like the GOP. You never saw anyone running against Romney or McCain after the election. The boogeyman from last elections is, ime, the exclusive tactic of the right given they rarely have original ideas. I understand it most of the time, but given Trump’s really positive economic numbers, it’s a bit puzzling atm. I’d be pumping my own numbers, even if I had nothing to do with them, were I the GOP, rather than running against the Clintons forever. That well will eventually run dry, but judging from some here, maybe it’s easier to hate Hillary than defend Trump, which is bizarre. I feel I could make a compelling argument for why Trump is a success and I hate him.
