In a two party system the moderates have to cacuus with the extremes within their own party. It’s difficult to reach across the isle the way it’s set up. When you have many parties there is a natural gravity back towards the political middle and compromise gets made.

Used to be Tip O’Neil would be able to have a drink with Regan or Bob Dole and hammer out a compromise on important issues. Now we have a money highway with two lanes R and D. It’s sickening.

You should probably get your facts right. Over half the civilian deaths were South Koreans killed by North Korean forces. North Korea/Russia/China actually started the Korean War, thinking the US wouldn't get involved and they would easily overwhelm the South. Then the US got involved, US/South Korea pushed the North Korean forces back until China directly joined the fray and created the stalemate we still have today.

I guess you can argue there would have been a lot less civiian casualties during the war if the US had just let the Communists take over the South, and all of Korea today would probably just be North Korea. But I doubt any Korean would agree that would have been a preferable solution. I am sure pretty much every Korean (North and South) would have preferred if North Korea had actually been defeated at some point in the last 60 years, and Korea became a unified Western style country, a la Germany. But of course the last thing Russia or China wanted was a strong, unified Korea to compete with for influence in the region so we have the reality today.

North Korea wants to nuke the fuck up because they are probably the most backward, repressed, sadistic, evil state in the world today. There is zero reason for the current North Korean regime to exist and at this point even their traditional political ally China probably wouldn't support them, because they are basically so evil and backward. So nuking up was seen as the only way for them to maintain their horrible government, and it appears to have worked and the North Korean people are the true losers in all of this.

The idea of sharing that page was to bring home the gravity of war. NOT to point the finger at any one country. It was WAR and horrible shit happens.

And regardless of how fucked up and backwards, they are as a country. It doesn't take away the fact that they would be failing in their duty by NOT trying to nuke the fuck up after such cataclysmic devastation to their country. Especially considering their enemies all went nuclear-capable.

Of course, I don't want them to have nukes. I'd sooner see them burn (50's style) before they became a global threat. But from their POV, it makes perfect sense.
