Just looked into it a bit more and it basically means nothing. Merkel isn't opposed to cutting tariffs on US cars in response to US cutting tariffs on EU cars in principle. In practice it's likely never happening. The whole EU would have to agree to it and to comply with WTO rules EU would either have to make a free trade agreement with US that covers more than 90% of all goods or EU would have to cut car tariffs on all of it's trade partners.
What she actually said is a diplomatic way of keeping all options open. Something competent leaders usually do.
The bitch is running out of support.
Macron isn't the leftist he portrayed himself to be, his true colors are starting to show.
Nationalism is becoming the flavor of the day.
The new PM of Italy is leading a movement to make the EU more nationalistic.
I don't think competent leaders let thousands of immigrants into their country who refuse to assimilate into the culture, but I guess after WW2 you can make a strong argument that Germany has been cuckold culturally for the past 70 years or so, and are themselves under an identity crisis......
Either way, you live by the fail ideology and die by the fail ideology........

So yea the bitch bent the knee because ironically her last move is to make an "incompetent" decision kiss President Trumps ass

Most of it toned down after Brexit and Trump. After Brexit there was fears of at least 3 other exits. Nothing came of them.
Immigration is down in Germany and Merkel just made some anti-immigration moves like a day ago.
Closer other nations look at what's happening with Brexit less they are interested in it for their countries.
After 2 years May just had her cabinet agree to a very vague agreement on what UK should propose to EU. The end result was a soft Brexit that pisses of remain/leave and likely still isn't soft enough that EU would be interested in it. Leave thinks they're being betrayed and Remain is thinking that if this the deal we are looking for then why are we leaving in the first place.
In 2 years they have come up with a new phrases for what Leave sees as open borders. Securing labour mobility and mobility framework. So there's some progress.

She didn't. Unless you read far too much to something like...
“You can either discuss a broad swath of tariffs for 90 percent of goods, or you can select particular variants or groups, but then you have to ensure the equal treatment of all global trade partners,” Merkel said. “That could well be an option that I can imagine.”

..."option that i can imagine" doesn't sound too supportive or firm to me.

Pure fucking mentalism

When that failed, they turned to threats, according to diplomats and government officials who took part in the discussions. Ecuador, which had planned to introduce the measure, was the first to find itself in the cross hairs.
The Americans were blunt: If Ecuador refused to drop the resolution, Washington would unleash punishing trade measures and withdraw crucial military aid. The Ecuadorean government quickly acquiesced.
Would anyone like to decipher a post from Tellatard. He seems to invoke a brotherhood but if it existed would be the dumbest group of individuals known to this or any forum.
He's a mental wreck. And yeah Tardass, odds are your fat ass bone dead wife will leave you which you should be grateful for because anyone hooking up with you must be brain dead. And very fat of course.
I actually wish we still had legitimate journalism in this country so we could ascertain how true this story is. The NYT has been shown such low integrity and dishonesty for so long it is almost impossible to tell how real this story is. I am sure it is mostly factually real (that is most of the facts are true but they are probably also intentionally leaving a lot of the story out to support their own biased narrative), but is it intellectually honest? Who knows, I doubt it.
I don’t know shit about any infant formula trade wars. And I know none of you guys do either. But I have caught them in enough partisan lies that I am not going to give them the benefit of the doubt. The fact that any of you guys take any American “journalism” at face value is pretty amazing IMO, given how partisan and corrupt it all is.
Of course everyone just believes the stuff they want to believe and doesn’t believe the stuff they don’t want to. So I guess not too surprising after all.
