In practice it's likely never happening. The end result was a soft Brexit that pisses of remain/leave and likely still isn't soft enough that EU would be interested in it. Leave thinks they're being betrayed and Remain is thinking that if this the deal we are looking for then why are we leaving in the first place.

I actually wish we still had legitimate journalism in this country so we could ascertain how true this story is. The NYT has been shown such low integrity and dishonesty for so long it is almost impossible to tell how real this story is. I am sure it is mostly factually real (that is most of the facts are true but they are probably also intentionally leaving a lot of the story out to support their own biased narrative), but is it intellectually honest? Who knows, I doubt it.

The fact that any of you guys take any American “journalism” at face value is pretty amazing IMO, given how partisan and corrupt it all is.If anything, the Times pulls too many punches.
