i'm obv not a trump fan but the economy is relatively good and the north korea situation is more promising than i can ever remember. that last point is the one thing where trump's erratic tweeting probably helps him; i.e., "this fucking guy might just be crazy enough to nuke us."

Funny, I was actually thinking this the other day.

Sometimes the scariest thing to an aggressive crazy person is another aggressive crazy person.

I was wondering if perhaps the progress in North Korea is partially due to the possible realization by Kim Jong Un that his usual chest-puffing bluster was just going to make things worse with Trump, so he may have been shaken to try something different.

The Stormy Daniels thing is stupid, and the left is falling into the same trap as the right did with Monica Lewinsky. They're obsessing over a President's personal morality (which with Trump we already knew was crappy anyway), and harping on some legal technicality which, in the grand scheme of things, doesn't matter much to the average American. Much like most people didn't care that Clinton "committed perjury" regarding his sex life, most people aren't worried that Trump technically committed a campaign finance violation to pay off a porn star he banged in 2006.

I scratch my head wondering why the left is obsessing over this, when there is so much legitimate stuff to harp on if they really want to go after Trump.

Because he paid her right before the election to keep her quite which is election tampering.

Now that things are calming down on the Korean Peninsula...

Looks like the White House is focusing on the real threat over there China. They really do need to stop trying to militarize the South China Sea because this is clearly strategic to war, militarily and trade wise. They have one goal in militarizing that area, its to control it in case of a possible war with the United States. I wouldn't be surprised if at a certain point left with no choice we dont just bomb them man made islands. Problem might be a tidal wave as a result, but that'll be the least of Chinas problems if they don't cut it out there.

Obama played a whole lotta pattie cake with this part of the world so I'm glad to see someone start taking a legitimate we will punch in the mouth approach for once over there, politically.

The USA has hundreds of bases all over the world, they've fucked with more countries then I can easily remember, and you criticize them for taking a strong stance in the south china sea which is basically on their doorstep.

If China ramps up and prepares for war you're fucked, if it's a conventional war they will kick your ass, if it's a nuclear war we're all fucked.
I think you underestimate just how easily the Chinese can produce weapons of war. All those factories that are making all that cheap stuff you're addicted to can easily make thousand if not hundreds of thousands of drones and modern tools of war. Both quickly and cheaply.

I think the US and the rest of the free world in that area (including Australia) should firmly oppose China trying to own the whole South China Sea. Whatever China build there, the US should build 10x as much. Fuck China. They are by far the biggest threat to civilized society.

The USA has a lot of aircraft carriers, the Chinese have one. Aircraft carriers are a good mobile platform to attack under-powered countries who don't have the ability to destroy your carriers.
The Chinese will target your carriers with weapons like the DF21D if they get too close, good luck stopping a carrier killer that can do in excess of Mach 10.

The new VT4 main battle tank is cheap and easy to produce, the Soviets showed the world just how important cheap and easily produced tanks are.

They also have some new aircraft. Fifth generation J31 stealth fighter for starters will be coming online very soon. The carrier based J15 is perhaps a bit LOL. The J11B copy of the Su-27SK looks very effective on the armament side of things, and it's somewhat agricultural in it's design which means it will be easy to maintain and be battle ready. They also have the new J-20 that's just come into service, sure it looks like they've copied a lot of stuff... but don't underestimate this aircraft.

Your satellites are now a soft target too. The DN3 has the ability to easily destroy your satellites. This will surely effect your advanced targeting systems among many things.

Of course they have drones too. Many we don't really know about. The ones we do know about are drones like the CAIG Wing Loong. The Chinese can build five of these for the same price as one of your Predator drones, and about thirty for one compared to the newer Reaper drone. There is about half a dozen different versions of this drone already, and the weapons it can carry are significant.
This is the future of advanced warfare in my opinion. $150 billion is a lot of unmanned drones at a significantly lower cost then your own, and the ability to build them at a much faster rate then the USA.

Obviously they have a huge amount of soldiers too, but I don't think this is really that critical.

As to the handful of nukes they have, you must have staggeringly large hands. They have over 300 warheads and reasonably advanced delivery systems including a new heavy bomber the H6K. Just about anything the USA has the Chinese have already reverse engineered, and they are exceptionally good at this. Remember they have over 50 years experience with nukes already, they tested a hydrogen bomb in the late 60's.

To weigh it all up, the USA is a more powerful military at this very moment. They're really well prepared to attack weaker countries with ease. The Chinese are not weak though, and if they ramp up for war I doubt you can compete with their ability to produce cheap and effective weapons in great numbers.
