Friend of friends in the intelligence community is saying North Korea is "out of borrowed money" and have exactly no one willing to extend them more credit, and that more than anything is what prompted this sudden passion for reconciliation.

Now this is a story im willing to believe. This also may have something to do with the meeting with china last month.

China/US/Russia aren't going to let a nuclear power go broke and make decisions nobody wants them to make.

Devils advocate here for a minute when the USA puts your ass on economic lockdown it's hard to get funding, USD the world reserve currency and all of that.

The economics being a part of the tightrope we have been walking for so long (and when I say we I do mean China and USA). China is, in part, OK with the US trying to bring the DPNK to heel but they could never allow them to have a civil war either.

Russia wants a pipeline through both Koreas, and they have been a source of significant grey revenue for DPRK for some time. This deal could, theoretically, facilitate access for them.
