Donald Trump will go down in history as "The Greatest Bullshitter in the World" - just make up your own facts and people will believe you.

Robert Mercer: the big data billionaire waging war on mainstream media

"But there was another reason why I recognised Robert Mercer’s name: because of his connection to Cambridge Analytica, a small data analytics company. He is reported to have a $10m stake in the company, which was spun out of a bigger British company called SCL Group. It specialises in “election management strategies” and “messaging and information operations”, refined over 25 years in places like Afghanistan and Pakistan. In military circles this is known as “psyops” – psychological operations. (Mass propaganda that works by acting on people’s emotions.)"

On its website, Cambridge Analytica makes the astonishing boast that it has psychological profiles based on 5,000 separate pieces of data on 220 million American voters – its USP is to use this data to understand people’s deepest emotions and then target them accordingly. The system, according to Albright, amounted to a “propaganda machine”.

“Look at this,” he says and shows me how, before the US election, hundreds upon hundreds of websites were set up to blast out just a few links, articles that were all pro-Trump. “This is being done by people who understand information structure, who are bulk buying domain names and then using automation to blast out a certain message. To make Trump look like he’s a consensus.”

And if you use enough of them, of bots and people, and cleverly link them together, you are what’s legitimate. You are creating truth.”

You can take an existing trending topic, such as fake news, and then weaponise it. You can turn it against the very media that uncovered it. Viewed in a certain light, fake news is a suicide bomb at the heart of our information system. Strapped to the live body of us – the mainstream media.

One of the things that concerns Howard most is the hundreds of thousands of “sleeper” bots they’ve found. Twitter accounts that have tweeted only once or twice and are now sitting quietly waiting for a trigger: some sort of crisis where they will rise up and come together to drown out all other sources of information.
“I believe the simplest explanation is, there is no God. No one created the universe and no one directs our fate. This leads me to a profound realization that there probably is no heaven and no afterlife either. honestly something that really got my attention is that they also tune ad content in real time to individual targets.

so if you snap move your mouse to the close-popup X on a generic border security ad but linger half a second longer to read the text on a border security ad featuring a bunch of tatted up criminals, they know that the next ad should lean into the ms-13 theme accordingly.

thats sort of dexterity is incredibly sophisticated but also computationally expensive; for them to have found it worth while to do that sort of granular approach on facebook really underscores the extent to which facebook has woven itself into daily lives.

hey did you guys see that this moron called putin to congratulate him on winning the election. yep, the president of the US congratulated a dictator for winning a rigged election a week after the UK accused russia of assassinating people on UK soil

for a while i thought trump's conduct was the result of pure stupidity, but there really is no other explanation for this other than he's actually corrupt

I am starting to wonder if he is intentionally trolling the media/libtards. Seems this is something that is extremely inconsequential that won't effect anyone's opinion on him one way or another, but will drive the MSM and libtards in a complete frenzy, and he can just sit back and enjoy the show.

this is becoming a popular counter-argument for those defending trump against things that cannot otherwise be explained.

rush limbaugh went hard with this today -- "trust me folks, i know trump better than anyone and he knows he's just driving liberals/john mccain/etc. crazy..."

that's all that any trump supporter is left with now because the only other alternative is that he's 100% corrupt. there's just no other rational explanation for anything he does/says with respect to russia. how is it possible that a US president could congratulate putin on winning a rigged election? how could trump not address the poisoning on UK soil?

why would he say these things knowing they will drive mueller even further to bringing him down? why beg for impeachment proceedings?

occams razor the most likely answer (and damn near only answer) to all of this is that he's actually beholden to putin. (and i started out in this thread not believing in the russia collusion angle at all)

I am optimistic he will come and go and our government will endure. This isn't Russia or Turkey (or a bad Homeland episode). He can't just take over the military/police and throw everyone in jail who opposes him and make himself a dictator. I believe this is what he would like to do, but I don't think he will be successful.

Obama already did this and was praised for running a genius campaign. DNC propaganda has convinced YOU to care and act like ur side got cheated now in yet another bs way cuz ur a low IQ drone. I personally very much like this new development of everyone saying facebook is garbage. it all gave me the fuckin creeps when I was in college and all the freshmen showed up to my frat house talking about it nonstop.

maybe trump should blow a tranny and get every libtard on tilt about it and nip that one in the bud too

Calling Trump a bullshitter lets him off the hook. He is definitely a *liar*. He knows what the truth is and knows why he lies.

I think the distinction between the two is that the liar actually cares what the truth is, he just wants to peddle his fake truth instead of the real truth. For the bullshitter he doesn't really care what the truth is and he doesn't care when you call Him out on his bullshit. He has already moved on to the next bullshit. I think Trump fits the bullshitter mantra in this regard.

Trump *does* care because it affects his brand, which is why he has sued so many news outlets and reporters who have questioned his claims about his net worth. And he cares because as reporters and investigators get closer to exposing his massive money laundering for Russian oligarchs, the likelihood that he will bankrupted from the eventual civil fines and sent to prison for lying to authorities increases.

We are now seeing true men of honor, respect and integrity step up and are witnessing what is considered to be 'crunch time'.

When real Republican's / men like Max Power, with military and law enforcement backgrounds start sounding the bell, that means the end is drawing near.

This is as damming as it gets:

Lt. Col Ralph Peters quits as Fox News analyst:

"On March 1st, I informed Fox that I would not renew my contract. The purpose of this message to all of you is twofold:

First, I must thank each of you for the cooperation and support you've shown me over the years. Those working off-camera, the bookers and producers, don't often get the recognition you deserve, but I want you to know that I have always appreciated the challenges you face and the skill with which you master them.

Second, I feel compelled to explain why I have to leave. Four decades ago, I took an oath as a newly commissioned officer. I swore to "support and defend the Constitution," and that oath did not expire when I took off my uniform. Today, I feel that Fox News is assaulting our constitutional order and the rule of law, while fostering corrosive and unjustified paranoia among viewers. Over my decade with Fox, I long was proud of the association. Now I am ashamed.

In my view, Fox has degenerated from providing a legitimate and much-needed outlet for conservative voices to a mere propaganda machine for a destructive and ethically ruinous administration. When prime-time hosts--who have never served our country in any capacity--dismiss facts and empirical reality to launch profoundly dishonest assaults on the FBI, the Justice Department, the courts, the intelligence community (in which I served) and, not least, a model public servant and genuine war hero such as Robert Mueller--all the while scaremongering with lurid warnings of "deep-state" machinations-- I cannot be part of the same organization, even at a remove. To me, Fox News is now wittingly harming our system of government for profit.

As a Russia analyst for many years, it also has appalled me that hosts who made their reputations as super-patriots and who, justifiably, savaged President Obama for his duplicitous folly with Putin, now advance Putin's agenda by making light of Russian penetration of our elections and the Trump campaign. Despite increasingly pathetic denials, it turns out that the "nothing-burger" has been covered with Russian dressing all along. And by the way: As an intelligence professional, I can tell you that the Steele dossier rings true--that's how the Russians do things.. The result is that we have an American president who is terrified of his counterpart in Moscow.

I do not apply the above criticisms in full to Fox Business, where numerous hosts retain a respect for facts and maintain a measure of integrity (nor is every host at Fox News a propaganda mouthpiece--some have shown courage). I have enjoyed and valued my relationship with Fox Business, and I will miss a number of hosts and staff members. You're the grown-ups.

Also, I deeply respect the hard-news reporters at Fox, who continue to do their best as talented professionals in a poisoned environment. These are some of the best men and women in the business..

So, to all of you: Thanks, and, as our president's favorite world leader would say, "Das vidanya."

right but there was not an actual ongoing investigation into putin’s interference in our own election when obama called, nor was obama accused of colluding with him at the time

it’s such a mindblowingly dumb move that it’s becoming more and more likely that the reason trump refuses to criticize putin is because putin has something on him

the “oh trump’s just a retard” excuse is getting less credible every day
