Trump just set the photovoltaic industry in the United States back 20 years. The reason that every house in the U.S. doesn't have active solar on their roof is because the financial math doesn't leave any wiggle room in most states, and doesn't work at all in states that let the power company pay wholesale to the homeowner producing the power. Most people who have it are just making a green choice.
There are basically two manufactures of panels in the U.S. the largest of which is Solar World. Solar World's panels are basically double the cost of Korean Hitachi, and in my opinion are junk by comparison. The U.S. produces less than 1% of the worlds panels, and imports most of the materials to do that.
We have just added 30% to the the cost of installs of a product that was break even at best. Basically killing the industry.
A house that produces it's own power is the same as a car that can produce it's own gasoline, and we were right on the verge of making that a reality.
All we would have had to do is make the panel manufacturing industry tax free.
Fuck Trump
