This would surprise me. Traditionally, our net migration rate of professionals has always been tremendously positive (way way way way way way more coming in than going out), and I would be surprised if there was any data suggesting this wasn't still the case. But if you have data to support your case, I would love to see it. I have been misinformed before.
Tourism being down is no surprise given the current administration's international relationships.
Vegas, Matrix is raking it in. Don't you think its time to consider firing a down payment on a new forum personality? The election has completely ruined you.

from what i can gather from the #DACA hashtag on twitter, Team Deplorable is about to have a maga-hat burning if Trump signs anything even halfway sane after his meeting today with Schumer.
apparently they are extremely serious about Trump fucking over brown people as badly as he's fucked over white ones.

also trump would be a colossal bitch if he caves on DACA just to avoid a shutdown, which the dems are wrong for threatening
also lol at chuck schumer in 2013:
SCHUMER: Speaker [John] Boehner comes in and he says basically… it’s sort of like this: Someone goes into your house, takes your wife and children hostage and then says ‘Let’s negotiate over the price of your house.’
You know we could do the same thing on immigration. We believe strongly in immigration reform. We could say ‘We’re shutting down the government. We’re not going to raise the debt ceiling until you pass immigration reform.’ It would be governmental chaos.

The way the government is set up rewards obstructionism. Comity and concern for the country once limited how often and for what reasons one party went full obstructionist. Now it's all-out war, they're in it for themselves, and nobody gives a fuck about the country. Expect more of this from both parties.
I heard an interesting theory that members of congress used to eat, smoke and especially drink with each other quite a bit, and this made for cooperation between them. Now everyone is concerned about health and most don't smoke, don't drink much and don't go out for huge meals anymore, and this has made building relationships across the aisle more difficult. I'm not sure how much I believe this but it's interesting to consider.
HILLARY WON
Trump in 2013
"Who is going to take the blame? In the board room here, who's getting fired? Who is going to bear the brunt of the responsibility if indeed there's a shutdown of our government?"5 years later and it's anybody's fault but the president.
Trump said, "If you say who gets fired, it always has to be the top. Problems start from the top and they have to get solved from the top and the president is the leader and he's got to get everybody in a room and he's got to lead."
He continued, "The interesting thing is, in 25 years, 50 years, 100 years from now, when they talk about the government shutdown, they're going to be talking about the president of the United States. Who was the president at that time? They're not going to be talking who the head of the House was, the head of the Senate. who's running things in Washington. So I really think the pressure is on the president."
Nancy Pelosi called the shutdown gambit “an unthinkable tactic,” and labeled those pushing for it “legislative arsonists.” Chuck Schumer vowed not to use it: “No matter how strongly one feels about an issue, you shouldn’t hold millions of people hostage . . . That’s wrong and we can’t give into that,” he told the New York Observer. “We could say, ‘we’re shutting down the government, we’re not going to raise the debt ceiling, until you pass immigration reform.’ It would be governmental chaos,” Schumer said a week later.

pulling the emergency breaks on this entire theocracy strikes you as pearl clutching material because why exactly?
because they once said that they would never derail a government?
bro we no longer have a government. this (pointing at the white house) is not a government. its the tea party on sterno, controlling all 3 legislative branches. why are you pearl clutching because the dems are finally putting their foot down?

All the people claiming the dems are fucked up for using DACA as a bargaining chip need to realize that the republicans are doing the exact same thing with CHIP, yet CHIP could have been renewed ANY TIME since Trump became president, and republicans have blocked that from happening in congress due to their disagreements with the ACA and trying to repeal and replace... Now these douchebags want to use childrens insurance as their bargaining chip. It's disgusting behavior.
It makes absolutely no sense to divert all this money to the upper 1% through these "historic" tax cuts while taking money away from programs that matter... ESPECIALLY OPIOID ADDICTION, which is the single greatest health threat facing our country right now and something Trump campaigned on fixing. Just another broken promise that no one on the right seems to care about.Congress has taken steps to reauthorize the program, but, so far, they’ve been caught in partisan crossfire over where the money should come from. Several weeks ago, the House voted along party lines to pass Republican legislation that would refinance the program and extend funding for five years. Democrats criticized the measure for paying for CHIP by cutting funding to programs treating opioid addiction, diabetes and heart disease, youth suicide, and other public health initiatives.
“These programs have traditionally been bipartisan. But, the bill before us extends these programs by taking billions of dollars away from the Affordable Care Act, and undermining Medicare,” said Rep. Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) on the House floor prior to the vote. “Democrats strongly support reauthorization of these programs — but we reject the way Republicans are paying for them.”
