shithole
I don't think he even really wanted to be President. I think he wanted to lose a close election, build his profile, and then leverage this into some other TV stuff.
Once he won the presidency, I think he kinda decided, "As long as I am here, might as well make some $$," and supported stuff that would make him and his cronies $$, which isn't too hard given the Republican Party is on a mission to give the top 1% as much as possible anyways.
My working theory has always been that he didnt want to win and simply wanted to start his own Fox News clone.
And I'll tell you something.. nothing about Russia randomly wacking a dozen high profile 'diplomats' immediately after he got elected shakes my faith in that opinion; I think Russia wanted Trump TV as bad as Trump did, so they could parlay the success of RT. I think a bunch of Russian operators over did it, tipped the scale too far, and got dealt with.
For the longest I was convinced Russia wanted Trump to win because he's just so fucking simple on top of being compromised just from being a scumbag real estate thug, but real talk when I look at how badly Trump is fucking up and add that to the Dead Boris Club bodycount, this all starts to feel like a bad joke that went too far.

I'm sure Hillary Clinton had nothing to do with Trump getting elected.
You know, muh Russians.
if someone told me devidee didnt vote for trump at this point id be stunned frankly.

SOUNDS LIKE A SHRILLARY CLINTON VOTER
In referenced to the "shithole" comment, I will say it is interesting how it seems immigrants from the worst countries are the nicest people at the individual level when you get to know them. I think a lot of the disconnect is that we hold our leaders so much more accountable than they do in other places, for whatever reason.
I mean, there is a lot of grunching about how horrible Trump (and the Republican Party in general is), and a lot of it is fair, but at least we have a system where we can criticize our leadership and hold them accountable, and I have a feeling the Republicans are going to get pounded in a lot of elections across the country in the next few years as a result of their bad leadership.
There are a lot of Trumps in the world, and for the most part most of them get to do whatever the fuck they want for decades, and the people whose lives are being destroyed by their own Trumps are for the most part pretty complacent about it. You see this in most of Africa and the Middle East.
I guess the PC response to this is to say it is actually the USs fault for this, as we support destabilizing wars and corrupt regimes to further our own interests creating this situation, but I am not sure that is fair. I think there really is a big difference where in the Western world we expect our leaders to act in our interests, and hold them accountable when they don't, where in other places the people cynically accept that their leaders are corrupt and only acting in their own interests and don't give a fuck about the people at all.
I am saying this because there is a lot of pushback against Trump for his Shithole comment, especially from immigrants from Haiti and Africa, but I don't see a lot of people that have anything bad to say about the shitty governments in Haiti and most of Africa that have caused this situation. I think it would be better for these people if they focused a little more energy on the assholes making their countries shitty, as opposed to the asshole who is pretty much just saying what everyone thinks (although I agree a president shouldn't be saying this kind of stuff).
Living in California, I see this same disconnect in the Mexican community here. A lot of really nice people, who for whatever reason are hypersensitive to US officials criticizing Mexico, but don't seem too overtly critical of their own corrupt leadership, which has put them in this position, where they are forced to illegally immigrate to the US to make a better life for themselves.
I read that the Haiti government responded to the shithole comments by unsealing some court docs that show that corrupt Haitians officials were convicted of money laundering via buying condo's in Trump towers. A large percentage of condo owners in Trump towers reek of the same stench.
