Despite you thinking its childish, you have to admit that they have at least succeeded in some way by making it national news and exposed some real dumbfucks, one that runs the country even.

I would go with something that isn't blatantly antagonistic. Gestures like this and blocking highways are childish because they have zero value in attracting allies (just the opposite) and only serve to make oneself feel good about being rebellious. Like a child throwing a tantrum.

There's lots of shitty things you can do for attention, but the vague goal of "spreading awareness" doesn't really accomplish much.

I think protesting the national anthem is childish and counterproductive to the goals of social justice, but I'm fascinated to see how this all plays out.

I think President Trump should stay out of this issue in this capacity. The NFL is an American business with several small satellite businesses surrounding each team. No reason to hurt these people. I disagree with your opinion on most political issues, but I agree with this. Trump would much rather have the NFL protests be the headline on CNN and the NYT than anything Russia related, healthcare related, budget, trying to get rid of the estate tax, etc.

I do find it sad that people are now protesting the flag as a proxy to protest Trump. I think the American flag is a lot bigger than him and anything he stands for, and stands for something a lot bigger, and people should find some other way to protest.
