I did some wiki investigating. Veteran suicide rate is about double the average. In comparison, Doctors are about 1.8x the average and police 1.5 the average.

A lot of people commit suicide. Given how stressful and traumatic being a soldier is, soldiers being twice as likely as the average is not surprising.

Since taking office, the Trump Administration has repeatedly tried to prevent refugees from finding safety in the United States.

The first time the President banned refugees was in January on International Holocaust Remembrance Day. After the courts struck that order down, the next ban came in March. Then, in September, amidst the highest level of refugees and displaced people in recorded history, President Trump set the refugee admissions ceiling at 45,000—the lowest in history.

A safe and secure refugee resettlement program is essential, but the refugees coming to the United States are already the most vetted people coming to this country. Arbitrary obstacles do nothing to make us safer, and negatively impact individuals who have been forced to flee for their lives.

The American Jewish community would not exist if the United States had not let in refugees. We must stand up and fight for others to get their chance to find safety and rebuild their lives.

As your constituent, I am urging you to take action to protect the United States Refugee Admissions Program before this administration does even more damage to America’s proud tradition of offering safe haven.
