Well, that collapsing fringe party managed to come up with 2.5 million more votes than the Republican/Alt-Right party for presidency despite Hillary Clinton's complete lack of charisma. Not to mention that the dems picked up seats in Congress.

Things aren't nearly as bleak as you imagine or want them to be.

I don't think that it's a liberal-conservative issue. If there is one thing that Jill Stein and Donald Trump share, it is that they are both media whores. I think that this recount effort has more to do with drawing attention to Stein than it does to drawing attention to any irregularities.

The democrat party that runs in 2018 will be a lot different than the one that ran in 2016. The Clinton's and their influence are gone now. They were the center left part of the party. Nancy Pelosi is now one of the most conservative members of the party. The left wing of the democrat party will now be firmly in control. This is the same bunch that thought the transgender bathrooms issue in an election year was a good idea. OBV now that they will have to color up their ticket. Hillary may be the last white to ever run for president as a democrat.

If the next 2 years are a catastrophe, yeah the democrats will do OK in '18, but you will be defending a lot of Senate seats. Historically its a bad time for the party in power, but so far Trump has broken all the rules.
