I'm coming to Vegas for the first time

My lady and I will be coming out on Memorial Day weekend and I am in need of help. I plan on playing a lot of 1/2 and am unsure of where the "softest"games are. I've noticed on Bravo that they are playing a lot of PLO at Excaliber, which is where we will be staying. Just a couple of questions for anyone that can help.

Where are the best and easiest games? I've been told Venetian is my best bet, but I still want to get some input from anyone.

My lady isn't much of a gambler but there are a few games that I am going to introduce her to, such as roulette and The Big Six Wheel. I would like to find $.25 roulette if possible. Anyone know where this could found?

We both enjoy drinking and have looked up some deals on some stuff, such as this one that is like $13 all you can drink for a few different drinks. I know that alcohol is free when gambling, but again, she isn't much of a gambler.

Is the zipline over Fremont worth the price of $25 or $45? What is the difference in the costs and platform levels?

Any help on these would MUCH appreciated although I'm sure I will have plenty of more questions

The softest games I've ever played in Vegas were at the Orleans but that's offstrip. I've played 1/2 @ 5 or 6 strip casinos & really never saw much difference in the competition so you really shouldn't have to go far to find a half decent game.

I may be wrong but I've never heard the Venetian games were easy. I've heard they have a good variety & some good tournaments. Others can chime in with more info.

Not into these games but your best bet to find cheap stakes would be downtown or O'Sheas on the strip. I took my daughters to the Sahara, which is now SLS, & played $1 blackjack so they could learn. Not sure if that is still there but I doubt it.

I used to have a nice cache of sites with deals on my last computer until it fucking crashed. I'll try to find some & post them. In the meantime you can check out here: https://www.tripadvisor.ca/ShowForum...as_Nevada.html

That fucking shit is an abomination & I'd never personally do it just on principal. Just my opinion.

I appreciate all of the input. Starting to wonder if maybe we should stay another day. Any input on the buffet at Excaliber? We plan on doing that 24 hour pass thing so we are not limited to any certain times that we can or cannot eat. Plus I'm a fatty.

Also, anyone have any idea if the "$20 upgrade" at the hotels in Las Vegas still work? I remember reading that when you checked in, if you slipped the clerk at the desk a $20, they could upgrade you to a Strip-view room....

I would always advise to stay another day. lol

I'm really not a buffet fan as I've only tried a few in all the times I've been to Vegas but they were all decent. I believe that they have an option of a 24 hour pass for either the Excalibur or Luxor buffets which might appeal to you since it would hopefully offer a little more variety in both times & food & they're a short walk from each other.

This is covered ad nauseum on the tripadvisor forum that I linked in my original response. Just search $20 trick. Some say it will work depending on how busy it is & some say it doesn't. I, personally, would never do it because they could get fired for it & I never want to put somebody in that position. Just ask nicely if there's a possibility of an upgrade & tell them that it's a special occasion for you & your wife.

    Cool

Lots of good info if you Google freebiesinvegas. Wear comfortable shoes! There is so much to see. An extra day is a must. Our favorite thing to do is eat at Mon Ami' Gabi at The Paris on the patio to watch the Bellagio Fountains and people watch. If taking cab from airport, tell them to NOT take the tunnel (thats the longest route to anyplace on the strip). If you want to drink on the cheap just sit at a machine and play minimum bet get your drink then cash out and move on. Rinse and repeat. Have a great time and give us a trip report when you return.

It is going to be tough to get an upgrade during Memorial Day weekend. I wouldn't tip the clerk a penny for a better view, only for a bigger room. Just tell him upfront that you are willing to tip him if he can get you into a bigger room.

    Greek and Snake,
I appreciate all of the input. I think I will definitely eat at the place you recommended because one of the things we definitely wanted to see was the fountains at the Bellagio. Either of you guys recommend any poker rooms for some 1/2 or 2/5 HE or PLO?

I've done the 24 pass before, the key is to eat a laterish dinner when you first purchase it so that you can come back the next day for a 2nd dinner.

    2 dinners

    1 lunch

    1 breakfast

If you're planning on playing a ton of poker you might want to play somewhere that offers $1/hr food comp, so that you can at least get a free breakfast/lunch or something on your last day.

Not sure the difference between the lower and upper zipline but if you do it before 6pm it is $5 off on either.

Like previously stated, wear COMFORTABLE shoes. I was just in vegas in march and did less walking than previous trips but I was still walking 10-12 miles a day according to my iphone.

sign up for uber if you haven't already, get yourself a free ride to fremont. Have your girl sign up under your reference and get another free ride. Unless you are planning on renting a car.

some casinos have video roulette that has a min .25c bet (not the big machine, that's a circle with everyone sitting around it and a wheel with the camera in the center) it looks like a slot machine of sorts, I know that cosmo has it as of march of this year because i sat there to get a cheap drink a few times.

Thank you for all the help guys. I wish I could express how excited I am to be there. As it stands right now, it looks like I'll be playing mostly at the Bellagio, Venetian, Planet Hollywood, and Excaliber. I'm sure I'll find something on Fremont when we check that out but those are the 4 that I've narrowed it down to. Agree or disagree?

Also, this may sound dumb, but I'm pretty stoked to play War at Excaliber lol.

Hers is a tip: Tell them you are "Dan Druff" and that you have a huge gaming related website. Then demand your upgrade. If they refuse, threaten to expose this horrible injustice against you on the Internet. Works every time for me.

That doesn't really seem like a good idea. Plus, it doesn't make sense to me.

Just booked the room yesterday. We're staying at Harrah's. Apparently, I had enough points on my Total Rewards card through them that we got Friday and Saturday night comped. That's a $400 swing to me! Trip report to follow guys!

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR TYPING IN BOLD AS I HAVE VERY POOR EYESIGHT. I REALLY APPRECIATE YOUR CONSIDERATION , TY SO MUCH. I HAVE BEEN ON THE ZIPLINE. DON'T MISS OUT ON THIS TREAT ITS WELL WORTH WHATEVER THEY CHARGE YOU. I ALSO ENJOYED TAKING PICTURES WITH THE SHOW GIRLS AND FONDLING THEIR TITS THEN GIVING THEM DOLLAR FOR TIP. I LOVE VEGAS.

This is a serious question that I cannot seem to get a straight answer to. Are Red Bulls free at all casinos? If they're not, which casinos are they free at? As for the others, do they give away others, such as Monster, Amp, Rockstar, etc?
