    Bovada having payment issues?

I have been impressed for 15+ years with Bovada's ability to process payments, even in the face of the UIGEA, Black Friday, and tons of other hurdles thrown against the industry.

However, I am seeing some not-so-encouraging signs from them in the past few weeks.

    Two caveats here:

    1) Bovada has paid quickly and reliably during its entire existence, aside from a few short periods when they had payment processor problems (which they always rectified).

    2) I withdrew successfully as recently as mid-March with no issues.

I received the following text from a PFA radio listener:

I had a low 5 figure roll on there. I put in a cashout request on 3/30, and they approved it on 4/4. Then they canceled it on 4/6, saying that it exceeded my limit for that method.

That method was cashout-to-credit-card and $3000 was my request. THey said they lowered my limit to $2400 ater already approving my $3000 cashout.

Now I did a bank wire on the 6th, and received an e-mail saying it will be approved in 48 hours. I haven't received anything from them in 6 days. Called them but they are useless on the phone.

Now, none of the above by itself is alarming. Cashout-to-credit-card is already kind of a shady cashout method. It was common in the early 2000s, but I really haven't seen it since then. It raises all kinds of red flags (for them, not you as the player receiving it).

So it didn't surprise me that they had second thoughts about doing $3000 that way, and lowered it to $2400.

However, the bank wire thing is what concerns me.

While it's only been 8 days since 4/6, this guy says that they never even approved his cashout.

On my end, I requested a $9500 wire on 4/1 which was approved the same day. However, it's been 13 days and I haven't received it, or even notification that it's been sent.

Usually I receive notification that it's been sent within 2-7 days, and I receive it a few days after that.

So something is definitely slow/backed up here compared to usual.

I think it's most likely that their payment processors are having issues (like perhaps they got rid of their existing ones and are establishing new ones), but it's something to keep an eye on.

Slower time of the year so sometimes they are slower with the delays and sometimes they get money stolen after the super bowl too.

Bovada has always paid but at times they have had some issues just like any site serving Americans.

The Visa Fast Funds is having a whole lot of issues right now. If you read the last few pages of the Bovada cash out thread over on 2+2 you will see a bunch of people having problems with this method of payment. I'm surprised they can even pay you this way which is crediting back the credit card you deposit with. This can't be a prepaid card with them and many times it can't be a bank debit card hooked up to your account either but just a regular standard visa credit card.

For those not aware usually the option of crediting your card back is something most sites don't do because they can run into a lot of legal issues but I guess whoever is processing for them right now has the ability to do this.

Hopefully at some point they will implement bitcoin withdraws.

I withdraw using the in-house debit card option, and the times vary on when the cash hits my account.

Sometimes, it takes 3 business days. Others, 1.5-2 weeks. The lag usually occurs 2-3 weeks around big sports events (like the NCAA Tournament and the Masters just recently). They're also running their BSPO tournament series and I am sure folks who ship big are cashing out as much funds as possible, as quick as possible. I've been playing in these almost every night and the fields are pretty huge.

They need to implement bitcoin cashouts to continue their pretty good standing of paying out as fast as possible as eventually, the check processors and the credit/debit card stuff just eventually catches up to these sites. They could probably also stand to hire some more people to process this stuff quicker when there is a backlog, but I'd doubt that will ever happen.

Another thing that doesn't help them is the poker consumer *is* a bit more prudent in cashing out big scores and not as apt leaving rolls on the site due to the history with Black Friday. Granted, they need to do better to fulfill these requests in a timely and transparent matter, but you also have to consider this is a business that is having its own fight with the Quebec government right now over online gambling, as well as the fact its offering its services illegally to Americans. The fact it still does so 5 years after BF is pretty remarkable.

I don't know if it's a liquidity thing, or if its just a backlog thing as sports punters are frequenting the site and clogging up the cashout pipes. I just hope it's the latter.

    UPDATE

I actually got the payout a week ago!

I didn't bother to check my bank account because they never sent me the message indicating it had been sent!

And I'm 100% sure they didn't send that message (as they were supposed to) because I check my Bovada internal messages, NOT my own e-mail.

Anyway, I called up asking why they never messaged me about it, and I got a clueless Filipino on the phone whose answers were all over the place.

I finally got a supervisor and they are "looking into it".

Annoying, but at least I got the money.

I think they have just hit a hickup with one or some of their processors . I recieved a check a lil over a week ago that cashed without any problem. I highly doubt there is anything to worry about long run , just standard serving the "Land of the not so Free" problems . . .

After 9/11 a lot of the money amounts that raise flags with the feds have changed.. it lowered so much.. use to be $5,000 to $8,000 before it rang any bell....anything over maybe $3000 is automatically checked and flagged for terrorist activity or money laundering... ISIS has made it even worse...

Some have reported on the payout thread on 2p2 that Ignition payouts have been taking longer than Bovada payouts, even for BTC:

This is not a good image to be giving your future customers by Ignition taking that long to cash people out when Bovada is quick.

I can see the future now with Ignition doing this over and over again with slow poker cashouts while on the sportsbetting/casino site Bovada owned by the same people will process most BTC payouts as they have in 12 to 48 hours.

You would think these clowns at Ignition would be processing BTC cashouts fast right now so people think it will be a good place and after September 30th put the screws to people with delays.

Not poker related, but this guy over at Wizard of Vegas claims Bovada is stiffing him (using the whole "suspicious activity" angle) after a big heater on its casino platform.

I doubt it's because he won. Perhaps he has to confirm his account with verification before he can cashout but their will be a a few winners in casino games from time to time. Online casino sites realize this and hope people give back a majority if they do win which a lot of people will but not everyone will.

This guy even says he was at $8,500 and stopped at $4,00 so he gave back a bunch already from his peak. I've heard of places putting people through a hassle but eventually the person gets paid from the reputable ones.

This guys post is vague. He claims they froze his account right away but doesn't state if he tried to cashout. He also don't state how much he has followed up because if someone freezes your money you call the number daily until they fix this shit. If you just take your time thinking they will get back to you in a few days then stuff won't get done as fast as it could be if you are persistent about it.
