Brian Hastings putting Dwyte Pilgrim on blast for scamming

Pilgrim was a WPT regular back in the day. He won a title but back then the players were burning through money like crazy. Haven't heard anything about him in a while so makes sense he's be getting backed.

LOL @ Hastings complaining about anyone scamming him.

That's one of the best examples of karma I've seen in awhile.

Aaron Massey hasn't ripped anyone off to my knowledge, but he was kind of a douche to me at one of the WSOP events I played, so I don't feel bad for him either.

Massey was at my event #55 table (the one where I finished 40th), and he open limped in early position. A few other limpers followed, and then it got to me on the button, and I had something like J8o which really didn't play well in this spot, so I said out loud, "Well, this is too weird -- I don't know what to do", and folded.

After the hand, Massey laid into me for my comment, stating, "I didn't have what you thought I had, and you shouldn't be making comments like that. Shut up during the hand and act like a professional". When I answered, "I just made one statement that the hand was weird and didn't elaborate", he gave me an angry response that I should know better never to comment on hands in progress where I am folding.

I decided just to drop it and didn't answer him.

I felt he was making a huge deal over nothing. It's not like I wasn't in the hand. I made a very general comment about why I was folding ("This is too weird"), and was still in the hand while I made that comment. It's not like I said out loud, "Wow, you've gotta have aces, no way I want part of this", or anything like that.

I understand why this irritated him a bit, but he went overboard with laying into me, especially since this was the only time I did/said anything like this the entire time.

Anyway, Dwyte Pilgrim always came off as a big degen. I played with him a few times at the WSOP.

This is not surprising at all.

Backing him was a pretty big risk. Not excusing what he did, but I kind of scratch my head when I see people backing guys like Pilgrim and then acting shocked when they get rolled.

You run pokerfraudalert and your immediate response to a guy getting scammed is you don't care because he is a douche?

    Seems legit

It's hilarious that we as a society think everyone can be a dr, a lawyer, an engineer. Some people are just fucking stupid. Why can't we just accept that?

What Hastings did was shady and you can say it was karma but that isn't the fair way to look at it. This situation is different and involves other people Pilgrim allegedly stole from.

From the messages it seems like Hastings wasn't owed much and has wrote off even getting paid but wanted to make it public to stack the evidence against Pilgrim.

In before Pooh comes in saying in a more harsh way how you shouldn't trust a black man whose last name is Pilgrim.

Have to admit this was also my first thought when I read this.

I was also a douche to you, on more than 1 occasion actually, so I guess I won't bother reporting any scams here either.

I missed my calling. I should be robbing pro poker players. They will literally do nothing about it.

High end drone stores are still viable options.
When faced with a difficult decision, ask yourself "What would Micon do?", then do the opposite.

    I should be more clear.

I don't take joy in seeing anyone scammed, except for scammers/shadeballs themselves.

So given Hastings' unapologetic/arrogant multi-accounting and other bullshit he's pulled, I am happy to see this happened to him.

Regarding Massey, I don't enjoy seeing him scammed, because as far as I know he hasn't cheated anyone. But since he was a dick to me in my one interaction with him, it's hard for me to feel much sympathy for the guy.

Similarly, if someone scammed me, I wouldn't expect people who dislike me to feel bad for me, either.

Still waiting for the first serious act of violence against poker scam perpetrators.

I do know of two poker-related premeditated murders, but both involved entitled losing players killing their parents for inheritance money in order to stay in action. And then of course there were the various murders where players were followed after leaving casinos.

So I guess the lesson here is:

SCAM PEOPLE IN POKER FOR BIG MONEY = SAFE

FUND YOUR SON'S POKER HABIT = GET MURDERED

WALK OUT OF THE CASINO WITH MONEY = GET MUGGED/MURDERED

    Sweet world we live in.

Haven't these people ever heard of contracts?

Do the backers just hand over the money and hope the player is a man of his word?

The contracts aren't worth the paper that they're written on. Let's face it, poker is already a murky grey area, and staking is just a dodgy extension of it all; it literally is one mans word against another mans, and when things go tits up then the only thing the staker can do is inform the community so as to ruin the persons rep and make sure they don't get action elsewhere . The courts wouldn't touch it with a shitty stick.

was watching WSOP coverage episode last night on youtube where Hasting busts out with KK vs. AA.

Phil Helmuth who seemed to be railing everyone, and getting more ESPN coverage than anyone, gave a glowing report on Hasting. I almost threw up. Hasting has man titties also, how did he score such a hot girlfriend?
