Well it's almost 35 years old, if you can still re watch it today that should say something. People that rate it high usually saw it in the theaters for the first time. The visuals and Vangelis kinda need a theater environment to work.
100 % agree that blade runner sucked
I tried to watch it multiple times thinking maybe I missed something
But it still sucked
Best thread from popeil for ages
Oh and I have never found Daryl Hannah even remotely attractive.
In fact she looks like an albino tranny IMO
According to a biochem wizard I worked for in the late 90s/early 2000's or so the vast majority of the technical details Dr Tyrell provides regarding the perils of gene therapy vis a vis longevity are factually correct.
No big deal these days of course where everyone can source check Wikipedia to find out how to flesh out a speech like that.
Thing is, at the time of the film, it was strictly fringe science fiction and barely that. There was no gene therapy, or wikipedia, nothing but PKD's amphetamine fueled imagination.

"Birds born in a cage think flying is an illness." - Alejandro Jodorowsky
"America is not so much a nightmare as a non-dream. The American non-dream is precisely a move to wipe the dream out of existence. The dream is a spontaneous happening and therefore dangerous to a control system set up by the non-dreamers." -- William S. Burroughs
Its also worth noting that Harrison Ford hates the film; they did an excellent first cut of it where absolutely no one in the audience understood the big reveal; that he was a replicant. So the studio literally threatened him with legal action to show up and voice over a dumbed down re-edit of the film (what most people know as the movie at this point) before they would agree to release it.
Which is why Harrison Ford's voice over sounds like it was performed with a gun to his head; it metaphorically was.

you would think that someone with your intellectual curiosity and artistic vision that you would be much better in your your designs and shops. sadly, your work lacks creativity and your eye for detail leaves something to be desired.
