How to free up storage on iPad (also posted in Mac Pro remorse thread)

I know I posted this in my other thread but I thought it would help more people if it had its own thread. It worked on both my iPads.


1. I had 1.1GB free (verify: settings-general-about)

2. Goto iTunes store search War and Peace Movie

3. Rent it for $3.99 (its 8.8GB). Tap it twice.

4. After a few seconds you will get the error not enough storage.

5. Wait 10 seconds and go back to verify storage Available

Mine went to 2.1GB, tried again went to 3, again 4.4 and the last time went to 4.9GB free.

Amazing! It was explained that Apple tries to delete and remove all the cookies so they can get you to purchase more. Scum bags if this is true. I was planning on buying a new iPad just for storage when it's less than a year old and current model.

*****Don't try this if you have 8GB available because you will rent War and Peace and be out $3.99.

You probably meant also temporary files that the system and/or apps have stored to make using them faster. Because users of an app are likely to ding its reputation on iTunes if it constantly runs slowly.

Probably. Still messed up that out of 16gb I had over 1/4 wasted. There has gotta be a better solution than a hack I read on Facebook.

1. It doesn't charge you until you have the whole movie downloaded, correct?

2. Does it have to be this movie you try and rent?

It doesn't charge you b/c you don't have enough storage to download it. No War in Peace is one of the larger movies so it's a good one to use.
