I have always had a hard time with 'discovered America', because when you get off the boat and human beings greet you at the shore, you didn't discover shit, there were people already there.

I've seen a much broader documentary on PBS sometime in the past, but for the life of me I can't remember which series it was, most likely Nova. This gives a pretty concise description though. I now remember seeing this a few years ago. The fact that the Vikings temporarily settled in Newfoundland really shouldn't count as "discovering" North America because they had no clue what they had "found". Yeah, it was land to settle on, but if they had learned about the much better land further south along the coast, and how easily they could have savaged the natives with their superior weapons, they wouldn't have let the settlement at L'Anse aux Meadows.

A second, more southern Viking site may have just been found in Newfoundland, according to research from an international team of archeologists working in the province.
