10 years/500M? Don't know when he is eligible for it...think it might be after the '17 season...I mean he'd be 24 (?), then...so sick to say that the contract at that number might be worth it given the revenue situation teams are in...he doesn't get hurt that contract takes him from 24 to 34 and doesn't hit those drop off years that all these other long term deals hit on...so you are getting 8-9 years of pre-prime/prime years and maybe 1-2 years of a little down turn...that one is gonna break free agency as we know it...
Harpers contract actually ends after this year 2016. He does have 2 years of Salary Arb coming up but lets be honest the Nats have no chance of winning either of those fights and they know it.

    http://www.spotrac.com/mlb/washingto.../bryce-harper/
ha, no fucking chance in the world...then if that's the case, 10 for 500 makes pretty decent sense (and you know boras' ego isn't going to let him ask for anything less than half a billy)...that would let them buy out his final 2 arb years and get him locked up...think the angels did this with trout...talk about a contract that is a fucking steal...think he's 7/140? that will make up for the back half of the pujols contract...

I mean the 10/500 is like 175 more than the Stanton deal, so it's gonna be an overpay but think that having relatively no dead time on the contract probably offsets some of that...

Gonna see China's Bryant (35) vs Daly's Boston College (52) tomorrow afternoon. Two best D1 in East although Boston College athletic dept just can't pull their head out of their ass. It's a huge Sonatine style hate-watch for me.
Damn, Atlanta Braves are awful. Totals & Run Lines. Nothing is a sure thing but against bad Red Sox pitching and huge offense. I am gonna follow the Braves until books adjust.

Cubs vs Braves this weekend. The best vs worst. Better pitching but I am on this too.

    Bryant 18
    Boston College 6
What a fucking beat down. Why does BC bother with athletics. What a great day to be a hater.

    Braves really are horrendous.

BTW, a good pitcher to watch for betting is Aaron Nola of the Phillies.

Shut down the Nationals today, 7 innings and 2 hits.

Was good last year as a rookie, and looks even better now.

While the Phillies can't hit (only a little better than the Braves, honestly), Nola might be able to get some sneaky wins with fairly big underdog lines against him. Today it was around +140-+150 on the road against Washington and Rourke, so I didn't love that. But watch for other lines and you might find some value. He's really under the radar for the most part.

Betting Maeda toady at -121 to beat Jose Fernandez and the Marlins. I just don't see the Dodgers getting swept 4 at home by the Marlins, and Maeda has been Fernando Valenzuela-like after 4 starts.

Speaking of the Nationals, they just aren't looking good.

Nobody is hitting except for Harper and Murphy, and their good record is the product of playing shit teams (though the Phillies are about to sweep them, despite being at home).

Maybe the pitching and Harper will carry them, but I wouldn't be surprised if they miss the playoffs again.

Dusty Baker is not a good manager, either.

Could easily see an NL postseason involving the Mets, Dodgers, Cubs, Cardinals, and Pirates again, just like last year. Except the Cubs would be the favorites.

I had an easier time getting Grateful Dead tickets in Chicago last summer than it will be trying to get Cubs/White Sox tickets this summer.

Tomorrow I will probably take Benjamin to his first Dodgers game.

Really wish it were Maeda pitching (today's pitcher) instead of Wood (tomorrow's pitcher).

But it's against the fail Padres, so maybe even Wood can look good.

Cubs vs White Sox. Crazy good in Chicago. People still loyal to White Sox?

Dee Gordon on freaking roids? Unbelievable.

    http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/15...peds-violation

He's the last one I would have suspected. Not exactly like he bulked up and hit a ton of HR. I guess it helps with bat speed, too.

He did get to play one last game against the Dodgers tonight and contribute to the Marlins sweeping them (and making me lose my bet, though honestly it was more Giancarlo Stanton than anyone).

Sad. I really liked Dee Gordon, and totally never suspected something like this.

Henry: PEDs aren't reserved for only lumbering sluggers, as you know, they're most notable for muscle recovery. And the Marlins have the same 162 game schedule in 183 days as the rest of MLB.

Nice pick you fucking kiss of death. I had a dime on LA tonight. If I'd had known you were going to jinx their big blue ass I for sure would have laid off. 2-0 lead just evaporated into the Chavez Ravine.

Don't blame me. The Dodgers bats were asleep all series, and the bullpen has sucked for years now.

Buy a program and save the ticket stub.

I know the spending the $5 will ruin the night for you but collecting these things will be fun for the kid later.

Just think, next month he'll be asking for action on that old guy, Sanlmar's picks.

Lester had 10 strikeouts and they bring a guy off the Bench who hit a grand slam -- Matt Szczur. I think it is pronounced like Caesar.

    Grand Slam:
    http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=15429246

When he was in college, where Szczur also led the football team to a Division I-AA National championship, Szczur donated his peripheral blood cells 19-month-old Ukrainian girl who had cancer. She is now 4-year-old and doing fine. ZHe never met her and was matted through a volunteer bone marrow matching program. The odds were 1 in 80,000 he would match anyone.
