This is a charming doo-wop tune from 1963 about "oldies", referring to mid-1950s music (lol). Supposedly the "oldies" thing was a joke, in reference to the still-infancy of rock-n-roll.
Never was a big hit, but it deserved to be.
I really like this song. The lead singer did not consider it doo wop at the time though, believing the band's style to be "rhythm and blues". Over the years it became regarded to be a doo wop song.
Interest in it revived after it was featured in "The Queen's Gambit".
