Texas is a breading ground for shady home games. I have been fortunate enough to find a couple of good ones, but the faces never change.
I was wondering if anyone has any experience with places like this.

Coats $6/hr plus $10 to get in the door.
If you play for five hours, costs you $8 per hour.
25 hands, should get 30 but it's fucking Texas if you ever been there you know what I mean.
Average rake might be $3.5 in regular $5 per hand casino.
Seems pretty close to fair to me.
Plus no tipping probably makes it a pretty good deal.
Although what's the math on getting stabbed?
The math is actually a bit rougher than I thought... if youre going to pay a dealer to be there for 8 hours, off the books basically, you really need to come through with $160-200 a shift which is 50-60% of what an 8 hour shift takes down in time charges.
Subtract $50-100 a night for refreshments and you need 3 tables at nearly full ring for all 8 hours to earn like $300-$350 profit... 5 tables to earn that much and pay someone to be a security presence...
Thats a tricky grind honestly.
Edit: ohhhh right, the $10 door charge. That definitely helps bump up profit a good $100 per table.
Fuck this is really interesting.

Played here several time. Rumored owner is Brandon Stevens (He finished 10th in the one drop a few years back).
I was offered the general manager job a few years back (this place has operated in the open for several years). I pretty much was inquiring just to figure out the ins and outs of how they were getting away with it.
looks pretty good
it's texas you're allowed to carry a gun right?

pussies
Astonishingly low rake. I'd be worried about scam dealers. (grab two red chips and spit out five whites etc.)
Also
- no alcohol
- being told when to leave
- tipping not allowed so no honest good dealer would ever work there
- pace of play would suck because the dealer gets paid the same whether he spits out 3 hands or 30 hands an hour.
Fish won't leave their regular illegal cash game with a fast dealer that allows them to drink and doesn't tell them when to leave. Winning players won't leave their regular illegal cash game because pace of play will be atrocious and no one with real money to burn is going to show up. The one and only thing it has going for it is that rake is way lower than any good house game I've ever been to. I'm sure that will get a few short sighted nits in the door... once.
The people that come to this thing will be the same fuckers that humped freerolls in 2004 and total noobs. I'd rather shoot dice against Ashy Larry with Suge Knight there as the pit boss than show up to that glorified freeroll.

Reading you guys comments now. You really all must have lost your minds all at once. Do you really think there are fish in San Antonio just dying to play cards that haven't been invited to real games? Let's say there are one or two left. They will be swooped up within the first week of this shit show. I'd really like to crawl around the mind of someone that thinks this is a good idea... I doubt I'd bump into much.

When you guys read Sonatine's horrendous posts in this thread do you naturally dub in the heavy breathing? It makes it so much better.
As someone who started playing poker before the boom, I understand that no poker room today will give you the "warm fuzzy" feeling you used to get when you would walk into the room, size up the table, and KNOW you were going to walk out with more $100 bills than you came in with.
Also, it has been long established that poker is faggot, and that the current state of poker is really faggot.
All these things have nothing to do with this thread.
Why you so mad Bro?
The current state of poker is certainly not faggot if you know where to look and know who to shmooze to get invited. If you like to play like a nit and not straddle and enjoy berating fish you will never get invited to any good game. (unless you really really suck) If you want a poker league and you play poker for social reasons I really can't comprehend that. The game stopped being fun for me years ago. I play for money.
As I read the comments I notice I'm the only telling you exactly what you will experience when you walk in that door on April 1st. Even worse by May 1st all the agents will poach the new fish that somehow hadnt found a game. It seems like I'm the only one talking about things to do with this thread. Sonatine is so fat that he thought your OP was asking if this would be a good business model. I didn't see you tell him to stay on topic.
#GoBackToLurking
Real talk if I just moved to San Antonio I'd show up to that poker league on it's first week with backstory of prosperity and show a high propensity for the gambooool. Put a super slick reverse bumhunt on all the representatives of the good San Antonio games to get the invites. Of course this poker social club might be an even bigger fail than I'm picturing and they might not even bother with it.
