Just wrapped up season 4 after outing this show on ice after season 3.
I just can't fully wrap my head around how this show is considered one of the best going. It's one thing to disband belief to make a good show. This is next level garbage. I can't even believe someone thought this season was a good idea.
I will give Kevin Spacey credit for two things:
1) As the writing gets worse and worse, he gives fewer and fewer shits.
2) He literally takes all that sweet Netflix money and literally spends it all keeping the incredibly famous historically significant Old Vic Theater in London going. Literally out of love.

If he wants that Netflix money he better get some control over the writing because this season might be the last. Even the west wing took 20 episodes to go down one maybe two of the common presidential tv show plot lines. This crammed A Primary, 1/2 a presidential race, wife running her own campaign for congress, Him getting shot, first president with a transplant, the weak VP takes over angle, the First Lady brokers huge international deal and stabs the Sec of State in the back, Death of a parent and a cheating Wife, domestic terrorist hostages, google/tech domestic surveillance, his wife almost divorced him, The entirely of seasons 1-3 coming home to roost via a scandals........AND...... just to keep it interesting...... the story of a convention where the fucking First Lady is the Pick for VP.Originally Posted by sonatine

Bare in mind its based on a British series that was literally 4 episodes long. IIRC Spacey was never really sure he wanted to go past season 1 but that sweet, sweet netflix money was just too good to pass up.

i hated season 5 a lot less than i expected to.
there were a few moments where i was like 'welp so much for taking this seriously' but it wasnt wasted time by any stretch.

I mostly hated myself for watching it.
Movies about galaxies far far away and Series about Nephew fucking aunts flying dragons has way more lattitude than political dramas in my book generally. This show is Sons of Anarchy off the rails at this point just in a different sort of way.
As you said earlier though, good for Spacey for taking the $$.
Lolz - they made a season 6.
Have to figure out if Im sons of anarchy level pot committed or not.
3 episodes in and one word comes to mind: lumbering. Not sure if I have the patience to watch the rest of it.
