Early WSOP Shennanigans, Lock Pro Edition

I thought this was pretty funny.

John Kim puts Casey Jarzabek (Lock Pro, owner Tournament Poker Edge) on blast

    John Kim ‏@NicolakPoker
Wth, following a notable on twitter, he's on my table, he busts by playing A6 horribly then tweets he busted QQ<AA #keepthebackershappy
    John Kim ‏@NicolakPoker
Anyway for those who haven't figured it out it was Bigdogpckt5s aka Casey Jarzabek, lock pro and runs training site

I always liked John Kim from when he did those strategy lolcasts with Jeremiah Smith. Good for him in speaking the truth. QQ<AA my eye.

I'd say this is par for the course for many poker players, although his hashtag is priceless

Casey is the one player I still rail from time to time on Stars. I've watched many of his videos including one he did on a tournament I won. He is a tough player to have at your table but a nice guy away from it. I don't know the story behind why he signed at Lock. It happened shortly after Black Friday. Tournament Poker Edge is his training site.

For those tweeting at me, already outed him, it's bigdogpckt5s or whatever, Casey Jarzabek; lady that busted him willing to verify hand

    casey jarzabek ‏@bigdogpckt5s
Taking heat for my bust out hand but if u look back u can see my a6 hand bustout hand with nut flush draw

    John Kim ‏@NicolakPoker
Somewhat in his defense he lost a small pot to AA couple hands before so maybe he had QQ there but lost most of his chips and busted w A6

    John Kim ‏@NicolakPoker
Actually no, it was a Q9488 board and he mucked after guy showed so he didn't even have QQ that hand #straightliar

This makes sense. Druff, perhaps you jumped to judgement based on your Lock bias?

I thought the guy reporting this said that Casey lost to AA on a board with Q988x, so he couldn't have had QQ that time.

Also, if he really lost "most of his chips" in the QQ/AA hand, and then got his short stack in with a nut flush draw with A6, I doubt the guy reporting this would have referred to it as "playing A6 horribly".

Obviously there's no way to know for sure, but I think there's a good chance he shot off way more chips than he should have with a draw, and then omitted that hand and just referred back to some other hand where he had QQ vs AA, as if it were his bustout hand.

Choose to read what you want. Casey had AA and lost a mountain to QQ on the Q high board. He then shot off the rest on the draw. He considered his aces getting cracked as the key bustout hand. If bigdog had any history of twisting the truth to make himself look better I could buy your read. However, in the 5 plus years I have known him I have no reason to believe he would give a rats ass about his e-rep and tweet an outright lie. I will choose to take him at his word even though he is a Lock sponsored pro.

Casey seems like an alright guy to me. he plugs his projects and everything but he's generally content to be an anonymous player (the guy's married with a newborn) and not one of the shameless self-promoters. I've had limited interaction with him but he seems like a pretty well grounded guy. If I followed the story correctly He says that was not the board on the QQ vs AA hand (Casey had QQ) and lost some chips there. It seems like he was doing well and then started to get short and got his last 3k in the middle (they started with 4,500) with the A6. As someone else pointed out on Twitter CASEY backs people.

Of all the reasons to attack Lock, Casey would never qualify as one. As it was stated above, Casey backs peeps and he a good dude. Shenanigans? Cmon Jasep! Try harder. Maybe bring up CJ's associations with UB next. Maybe the fact a new father should be at home.

Fail thread, fail show. A whole lot of fail...

I give Casey the benefit of the doubt too, he's not a shady character in my experience and this is probably a small misunderstanding that's blown out of proportion. There's absolutely no way he needs backers in a $1500 event.

I didn't attack Casey, I reposted a poker story from twitter that was a pretty big buzz yesterday. I honestly don't care what Casey had, but tweeting that you busted with Queens against Aces when in fact you busted with A6 is pretty LOL.

My thoughts are he never had QQ, he had a hand like KQ against the AA and the Queen High board gave him QQ. I don't care how or what the guy plays, he seems like a good guy aside from the constant spamming of his affiliate link and the whole Lock thing.

It was just a funny story that was catching a bunch of interest, I would have reposted regardless of who the player was.

To be fair, his tweet wasn't clear that this was the bustout hand, but I see how Kim could imply that it was. I think John Kim just read it fast and assumed he meant the hand that knocked him out, where Casey may have been recounted what he thought was the important hand in the succession that led to him busting:

Qq into aa at least it wasn't a bad beet. Just to short in these not to get qq in the middle. Pool day #tpedge

Jasep, have you ever had Casey on your radio show? Have you or your partners ever approached him?
