Slater calls heads it was heads but mistakenly said we will kick off then tried to say wanted to receive ball as first team to score touchdown wins which Jets did. Steve Harvey type moment as tried to reverse with referee unsuccessfully. Jets original qb getting his jaw busted turned out to be the best thing that could have happened to Jets.

It looked like there was some confusion about the call of the toss on the field. Slater seemed to argue that the Patriots wanted the ball during a brief back and forth with referee Clete Blakeman, but that wasn’t the case.
After the game, Slater said, via Mike Reiss of ESPNBoston.com, the only confusion was about which way the Patriots wanted to kick the ball. Slater told Blakeman that the team wanted to kick in one direction, but a team can only elect to kick, receive or pick a side when winning the coin toss rather than electing to kick in a particular direction. At the opening coin toss of games, teams can defer and then opt to kick in their preferred direction.

Patriots coach Bill Belichick confirmed he instructed Slater to choose to kick if New England won the toss, even though overtime rules allow a team to win outright if it scores a touchdown on its opening possession.

Even if confusion about which way to kick off , why would you give another team that opportunity? Anyway LOL Patriots always trying to do some shady shit. Also I thought a team can only elect to kick or receive. Can a team also elect to KICKOFF and Which DIRECTION? He was clearly arguing saying wait we won the toss . You blaming me for being confused when he doesn't even know the fucking rules and its his profession?
