Bovada to finally allow poker points to be useful again

For many years, they have only been usable for tournaments -- a situation I hated. I wish I knew this change was coming before I shot off $270 worth of them on some crap tournament last month.

    Hey Todd,

We have some exciting news! Poker Points can once again be converted into casino bonuses and, to top it off, they can now also be converted into sports bonuses. Either way, our bonuses are better than ever, giving your Poker Points more value than ever.

Click the "Account" icon then "Points to Tickets".
Select a casino bonus or sports bonus from the list and click "Convert".

Your bonus will appear in your account within the next 24 hours. Convert your Poker Points today and discover all that Bovada has to offer

Did you read the website in the email link though?

It appears they will be in $5 or $10 increments so hopefully they add higher ones to save time claiming them BUT 3x rollover with sports which imo shouldn't be anything since you already earned this bonus playing poker but LOL at the casino being 20x rollover.

The 3x rollover for sports could be worse even though I don't think it should exist but a player is likely to dump the money in a short period of time with the casino directly to Bovada which they should love instead of maybe winning poker having a better chance of cashing out so 20x is completely outrageous.

    $10 Sports Bonus: Issued within 24hrs, 3X rollover $10 900
    $10 Casino Bonus: Issued within 24hrs, 20X rollover $10 700
    $5 Sports Bonus: Issued within 24hrs, 3X rollover $5 450
    $5 Casino Bonus: Issued within 24hrs, 20X rollover $5 350

For you lets say you have $150 you claim and apply it to a $500 bet I think that would clear right away since it's more then 3x but even if it didn't the rollover is on just the amount you get for that bonus that must be cleared in your account before you cashed out.

Even say you received $500 worth of bonus then as long as you bet $500 at least three times ($1500 in total) or have at least the points bonus amount x 3 in your bovada account that you aren't cashing out then I really don't think it should matter to you.

I hope that came out right since I'm kind of drunk but what I'm trying to say is for you Druff if you aren't wanting to play mtts with your points then the sports bonus should actually be okay for you.

For a person who just has like $200 in there account, wants to claim it to bet a game, and then wins they will have to play at least a few times through before cashing out.

Anyone getting a casino bonus well shame on you first off for playing in the Bovada casino but still huge LOL at them forcing people to bet 20x for a rollover.

Assuming Bodog's casino is fair, 20x rollover on the best games would lose less money than 3x sports betting for most customers.

ftpjesus: havent looked but best option might be Ultimate Texas Holdem as long as you follow Drexel's rules and not play the stupid side bets

Has anyone done the math on these to determine what might be the most +EV uses of the bonuses and what the potential effective rakeback percentage might be? I don't gamble or sports bet (only play the poker!) so I'm pretty clueless about the math behind these new bonuses

Their old system worked for me. I used my points to enter a $50 tournament and won it for a couple Gs.

If you don't like mtts i'd think the best use for them would just be to turn them into tickets, and play sngs with them. The sngs are very soft and anybody who is halfway decent at poker would be +EV in them.
