Why do you feel that they left the book up for a full month before pulling it? It's not like it slipped through the cracks because it's contents were disguised with an ambiguous title. It was literally called, "No One Died At Sandy Hook."
Also I don't understand what mainstream thought could explain why they would want to risk this book blowing up by censoring it. You have to agree with me that way way more people will read this now based on the censorship angle alone. In fact they dropped the price to 0.00 dollars to make it even easier. If 99 percent of the population would write this off as sheer lunacy based on the title alone why censor it?
If one book was ever to be censored on that site wouldn't it be Hitler's pro genocide book "My Struggle"? ( I forgot German spelling and am on my phone and don't want to lose what I wrote)
You talk about Amazon and "the mainstream" like they're one person or some kind of hive mind. That's certainly not the case when it comes to quality assurance at Amazon. I have published e-books there and can tell you first-hand that there's quite a lot of variance with how strict reviewers are. These are grunts working in an office, not executives. The only reason for anyone high up to step in is if they're catching heat in the press.
If by "mainstream" you mean media, why do you assume they care one way or the other whether the book gets read? Sure, more people will probably read the book now that they've heard of it. So what?
The title you're looking for is Mein Kempf. Of course it should be made available, it's historically significant. My humanities teacher had a copy in the classroom. It's not the same as some random basement dwelling creep writing about similar views.
