You mentioned you were going to try it again because it was enjoyable, so good luck next time. Personally I didn't get a ton of utility from playing the base game; I think most of the excitement for a tourist/recreational player comes from the bonus bet. For example, I flopped quads once and got 500 credits from the side bet, and subsequently cashed out a winner.

Interesting forums TW, I've been a lurker for 3 years. Is there a Rob Singer equivalent in the PFA forums?
There is no Rob Singer equivalent here. I don't think you can have a Rob Singer equivalent.

However, there definitely isn't a shortage of trolls here, though I keep them out of these parts of the site.

So you were making the bonus bet? Why? For fun? Or were you accidentally doing it, like what kept happening to me? (Forgot to mention that -- the machine has an AWFUL design to where you frequently accidentally enable the max bonus bet.)

Do you play much limit holdem?

I found it interesting, but I always like to figure out solutions to beat machines like this, whereas others might find that endeavor to be less exciting.

If I recall, I put my money in, chose $0.25, and pressed Deal (basically using the settings from the previous player). It wasn't until I got paid 500 quarters for flopping quads that I realized I was anteing 2+5 every hand. This was about 10 hands in. I played some more hands with no bonus bet and cashed out shortly after.

Re: Radio Show- There is at least one slot machine that talks trash to you... the heads-up bot featuring (1:16)! Steve Nash wasn't draft eligible when Bryant Reeves was drafted in 1995.

Occasionally, I'll play $10/$20 LHE in AC. Mostly play in private NL games in the city (I work in the financial district). If we play a 50 big bet freeze-out match, you probably be a 4:1 favorite.

Here's a weird coincidence for you: I was Vice President of the Technology Club back in high school. You, Mr. Witteles, were Vice President of the Computer Club at PV. Two of my good friends (and Technology Club members) were/still are Michael Chen and Albert Kim. *laughtrack*

Edit: Beth Shak has made 2 WSOP final tables.

Don't want to hijack this, but my vice presidency in the computer club was done for a lol reason.

I tried to start a computer club in 1987 and couldn't find faculty to "advise" it, so there was no club. So I gave up.

In 1989-1990 (my final year), I was shocked to see the signup sheet for a computer club. Turned out a freshman somehow got one started by convincing some teacher to advise it. So at the first meeting, nobody showed this kid any respect because he was short, young-looking, and his voice hadn't changed yet, so he was very frustrated. He was about to give up on the club, but I told him that if he appointed me (a senior) as VP, then the club would get more respect. So that's what he did, and things changed. The club was never too active, though.

Was going to go back and try this again this weekend but... I'm too late.

    Reports are that it's gone.

Not clear why they removed it, as Brandon noticed that it has been seeing fairly active play in the past few months.

We are assuming that they determined people were earning tier points on it too cheaply.

Either that, or people came up with a strategy good enough to either break even or beat it.

So the designer of this game is named Michael D. A. Baker.

While the game has a website http://texasholdemfoldup.com, there is no way to contact his company "Forward Thinking", and no way to get a hold of him.

    Weird.

I found that Michael Baker also filed a number of patents over the years, including this one from about a decade ago, involving this Fold Up game: http://www.toyinvention.com/toy-patents/pat7296799.pdf

Still can't find a current phone # or e-mail for the guy. I would love to ask him some questions.

It appears this game no longer runs in any casino.

I don't think there is a big mystery here as to why it was removed
