So here I sit at 2:20 AM a little bit pissed off. Every now and again I'll pull an all nighter and tonight was supposed to be one of those nights. I came home early because I was going to blow a gasket and I just couldn't deal with it. So here is what happened.
I'm playing in a 5-10 Nl $100-$300 (an interesting format, but it works well). At this point in the night most of the stacks have $1,000+ but we have one or two short stacks in the game.
I come back from taking a piss/walk/break and seat 5 is leaving broke and the table breaks into a chair swaping contest. 7 goes to 5, 3 goes to 7 etc etc. The woman in seat 7 decides to move to seat 5 and she has $30 in $5 chips and around $1,200 of $100 chips. I'm in seat 8 and I have $1200 behind. I wake up to As-10s. The woman makes it $35, I call, seat 9 calls with only $65 more behind.
Flop is Ax-8s-6s
The woman fires $265. She still has a stack of black chips behind. I tank. I have her on A-K or A-Q. She likes to overplay big aces. I remove flating as an option because if I miss she fires big again on the turn in all likelihood, and she may have a set and is over protecting the hand. It's all in or fold. At this point I say I have $35 invested and I don't want to turn this into a $1,200 mistake. It sucked, but I folded. The short stack shove/calls for $65. she flips over A-Q, he flips over 6-?. I flash my hand to hit end of the table as the action was complete. The all in guy says "holy shit I can't believe you folded that for $265." I respond in kind that I didn't want to risk it all on a draw.
Turn 2x - river 10x. So I river top 2, would have dragged the pot.
So the next hand starts up and the guys asks why I'm still here if I'm not going to play that hand. I say because if I miss the turn she is going to fire and I didn't want to get into a $1000 pissing match with a draw, implied odds be dammed. He said "No Man, she was all in". That's when I look over and her stack of black chips was in the process of coming off the table and into her bag.
So I stop the game and ask her what she thinks she is doing and where did the $1000 behind go. She says "oh that was never in play, I took all my chips out to pull out $300... I can't rebuy for more than $300". I say "you can't do that and I lost the pot because of all the chips you had behind." I ask the dealer what's going on here and he basically takes the line that she can only rebuy for $300 and there is no problem. She then lays into me saying "that hand is over stop making a big deal over something that doesn't matter, I wasn't calling her anyway".
I'll stop here and ask for feedback as to what you would do in this situation.
