I was just about to turn off the TV and do my nightly Talmud reading and I figure I must have seen or heard something wrong while watching this commercial.
Nope.

Nope.
Shut it down, loon.

What's not to love?
OSA, which dad do you think is the bottom?
Now it makes sense why this company thought having Donovan McNabb as a spokesperson was a good idea.
I don't even think liberals want this shit shoved down their throats. Conservatives will literally puke all over their computers and write letters to ban the commercial...
And people like me are left dumbfounded trying to figure out who thought this would be a good idea for a commercial and how many TPTB bucks the Campbell's owner got to take the perceived backlash that will come from something like this.
What people do on their own is their business but I personally got sick watching this ad. I can be as open minded as I can be but that doesn't mean my body feels the same way. Gross!
I have to say; stylistically, it would've been in better taste to choose a little girl for the spoonfeeding. Dude was getting a little too close to the kid if you know what I mean.
I wonder if Progresso will try to one up this. Ideally with two butch lesbos making out in front of some somalian kid
They should have went all the way with it and had the soup be clam chowder. Gotta train em early you know.
Ridiculous
Anyway, can see it now:
"Luke, I am your father"
"No... I am your father!"
"Jerry...enough...not at the dinner table. Look, we talked about this! ....he's already confused as it is! "
I actually hate this commercial, but not for the reason you might think.
I hate it because it's pandering. This is a really transparent attempt to manipulate guilty white liberals into thinking, "Wow, look what a progressive, open-minded company! I'm running out to buy Campbell's right now!"
You know that the marketing people were jizzing in their pants over the cleverness of this one, especially by combining it with the Star Wars themed cans, thus also reaching the sci-fi geek crowd (which tends to be comprised largely of guilty white liberals).
Target recently engaged in a similar form of pandering, by removing gender-labeled toy sections from the store. So it's no longer "girl's toys" and "boy's toys", but just "toys". Indeed, the liberal PC crowd on my Facebook had an orgasm over this change, with several vowing to do more shopping at Target. Mission accomplished. I tried to explain to them that Target was manipulating them, and in reality doesn't give a shit about eliminating gender stereotypes. (It's also stupid. Are we on the way to concluding that girls and boys are the same, with no innate difference other than genitalia?)
One girl on my Facebook gushed that her two-year-old daughter would no longer have to worry about playing with action figures from the boys' section. I told her that no two year olds have any clue which "section" their parents buy their toys, nor can they read the signs in the store.
But back to this one. This ad just screams, "Look! Two gay dads! See! It's totally okay, totally normal, and we at Campbell's support it!!!!11!111!"
Lame.
And if you must know, I am similarly annoyed at transparent and phony attempts to appeal to conservatives, as well.
Druff really?
I've been to lemon party and this add grossed me out worse than that. How on Earth will their business go up? More people will leave the company as their will be people new to it. Aren't liberals the ones that scream the loudest on gmo's and msg and all the other acronyms people put in their bodies anyway? I can't picture any leftist lover of their own fart smell buying unhealthy soup regardless. Plus aren't most fags total foodies? I just don't see anyway possible for this to be a good business move.
I don't want to craze it up and explain why I think this but I'm afraid if Campbell's is putting out an add like this they must think or know that many other companies are coming out with gay stuff soon... to the point where there will simply be too many products for conservatives to boycott.
Obviously there is a higher percentage of blacks in the U.S. than there are gays but I see it being similar to that token black phase in ads that started up 15-20 years ago. Only now with gays. I hope I'm wrong.
New soup labels coming too:
Same. The bigot crowd here won't see it that way, but this ad is meant to make a large demographic feel warm and fuzzy.
Brands Are Not Your Friends
What's been lost in the friendification of corporate brands is that by their very nature of brand-ness, brands are diametrically opposed to our interests as humans. They exist solely to distract, deceive, and manipulate us out of our money—and in the case of Coca Cola, freely dispense diabetes and obesity. There is nothing relatable in a brand. It's an entity designed for the single purpose of extracting money from you by any legal means, no matter if you don't need or even want what's being sold. Even if the thing being sold is very, very bad for you—the brand will persuade you it's silken and lovely. A brand will systematically and perpetually convince you that your best interests are incorrect—this is the behavior of an abusive partner, not a friend. Not even a stranger! Brands hate you.
It's interesting that you bring up the black thing, because the black community is known to be generally intolerant of gays, which created a strange side effect in the 2008 election. Black people in California showed up to the polls in unusual number to vote for Obama, but while there, they also voted for Proposition 8, which made gay marriage illegal in the state. Interestingly, Prop 8 was previously assumed to easily lose in the election, and the passage of it surprised pollsters, perhaps underestimating the number of black voters who would show up in that election.
Anyway, there are all kinds of guilty white liberals out there. Some are health nuts, but many are just looking for cheap, easy meals, and Campbell's soup apparently satisfies that for some. They clearly did some market research and felt that such a commercial would positively impact their target market -- even with the expected negative reactions.
As I said in my first post, I don't think it's an accident that the gay theme was used for the Star Wars can ads. This seems to especially appeal to the sci-fi geek crowd, which tend to be white, guilty, and liberal, and they also tend to eat a lot of junk.
BTW, the gay couple shown in the ad is real. They are both actors, but they are both actually married to one another. Not sure if the kid is actually theirs. There's a decent chance that it is their kid, since the child isn't white, and is very possibly adopted from a third world country. Healthy white babies are in high demand for adoption, and the waiting list is years long.
You guys need to go read the comments on the YouTube page (which, incidentally, has 600 dislikes to 1400 likes, which is a higher dislike ratio than I expected.)
But the comments are hilarious.
Campbell's knows that young boys need 2 homosexual fathers to demonstrate how they should properly act when they grow up, all the time modeling and mirroring homo fabulous behavior for the impressionable boy. He doesn't need a mother getting in his way...making him feel all pressured to give her a grandchild. He's going to grow up just like dear old dads....a flaming homo who sucks cocks so hard he makes his daddies proud. Then he's going to adopt, and continue nature's wonderful journey.
And then there's the debate about whether the kid is really white, and painted darker for the commercial:
ALIPAC
Look how much dark base makeup they have smeared on that child to make him appear less Caucasian.Kelly "The Kelster"
Obviously he is not Caucasian. I made that point already to the original poster. Makeup isn't used to make him look darker. He's my nephew,I know the facts unlike you.ALIPAC
Kelly “Kellster” You are full of shit Kelly. This kid is not your nephew and even if he was everyone can see the greasy look of his complexion caused by the caked on dark base makeup. Combine that with the fact the kids skin tone changes near his ears and the entire back of his neck is many shades lighter than the makeup they used. It is common to put makeup on everyone in commercials but in the case of this child they chose a shade significantly darker than his natural complexion.Kelly "The Kelster"
ALIPAC I don't need to prove anything to you.lol I've no reason to lie. That's my brother and his family, you're just another hater full of ignorance
When u mean bigot are refering to all the muslims in this country or rev wright or what holder and obama ideologicaly belive or just the white working class to satisfy your self loathing guilty white liberal mentality or just a plain ol coward or it doesnt serve your ideological narrative or tilt.
