The Shuttle Challenger documentary on Netflix is good.
Red Oaks on Amazon, from a few years back, is surprisingly watchable.
Finally getting around to watching Counterpart on Prime. I like everything about this show but for some reason I get the feeling I'm gonna be disappointed.
Hillbilly Elegy is worth a watch.
Queen Of The South
I haven't noticed anyone talk about this series yet.
Its another mexican drug cartel series, but so far seems worth it.
I just finished up the first season and honestly, given all of the garbage pushed out lately by all of the networks, this series seemed pretty watchable so far imo.
Anyone else dig into this yet?
I think i watched season and half when it first came out. Covid kinda fucked everyone's shooting schedules and now they are slowly releasing things to work out with traditional release schedules. Meaning there are weird 6-12 months longer off seasons.
If nothing else is on it's watchable. It's based on 60+ episode season 1 telenovela from 2011. They made another 60+ episode season in 2019 assuming based on the success of the American version.
I'd say it's half a point weaker than Snowfall. Both started pretty strong but dipped hard. But yea if you're looking for organized crime thingies neither is too bad. Some people liked ZeroZeroZero. McMafia wasn't too bad. 4blocks was decent. Gangs of London was so so. Can't think of anything else from last 5 years excluding Narcos and telenovelas about Pablo/ElChapo.
Magicians? Anyone? Finished first 6 episodes. the 4th episode was very trippy.
Written for teenagers, the protagonist has a very punchable face.
Elliot is a confusing character at first, esp with his interactions with Margot. He's obv gay but they hint at him flirting with her.
Murder Mountain. I'm halfway into episode five. It's awful. Poorly produced etc. but it's so bad I want to see if it can get any worse. White trash on white trash. Has anyone sat through this?
Bad Trip...if you want over the top comedy Borat style, some cringe worthy stuff but some LOL as well
I was the last man aboard the Peaky Blinders train so I’m basically talking to myself here. I must have watched the first episode five times and abandoned it. The weather has been shit the last week, and ran out of other shit.
It was just hard to buy the switchblade menacing gang of brothers.
Like as an American who grew up with droves of black kids waving guns around you and mobsters next door, they just weren’t that menacing.
Finally stuck through. The tortured by WW1 angle grabbed me first. The shell shocked guys. Dudes just fucked in the head.
Once Tom Hardy showed up as that crazy Jew mobster, I was blown away. I struggled with the lead character for a long time. Paul Anderson as Arthur was fantastic, but Tom Hardy just owned every scene he was in. I’d pay for a series based on that character.
I was so tilted that it wasn’t the finale. I was sure it was over and I kept powering through, only to find there is still a season six due in 2022. Fuck me. You Brits with your six episode seasons three years apart. It’s awesome work, but doesn’t lend itself to my American impatience.
Glad I finally made it though. Was excellent. Review five years late.
