Moses Malone
That Jew could score the ball.
He was more likely Irish.

Malone Name Meaning Irish: Anglicized form of Gaelic Ó Maoil Eoin ‘descendant of the devotee of (Saint) John’. This is the name of an ecclesiastical family at Clonmacnoise. MacLysaght states that this surname is now numerous in County Clare where it is pronounced Maloon and is probably really Muldoon.
Chocolate Thunder and Moses both? Damn, that's a big piece of my youth. seems like that cocaine bill from the 70s and 80s might be arriving for a lot of guys
Unlike a surname (family name), "Moses" as a given name is a poor indicator of Jewish heritage, especially among African-Americans descended from pre-Civil War slaves.
Http://life.familyeducation.com/baby...#ixzz3ljIN1XgEMoses, a name that is often thought of as a slave name, had no strong racial connection until the years following the 1831 hanging of Nat Turner, a preacher who led an early anti-slavery movement. Many enslaved mothers wanted to name their sons Nat in honor of the fallen leader, but they feared punishment for doing so. Instead, they used Moses, a name that was popular among whites and that became a code name for Nat.
Consistent with Moses being a popular name among non-Jewish whites back in the 1800's, one of my great-great grandfathers was given that name by his Roman Catholic parents.
In contrast, an African-American with a European-sounding surname that isn't directly reflective of a trade or profession, such as "Malone", likely descended from a slave who was once owned by white owner with that surname.

And a significant percentage of African-Americans who got their DNA tested have a distance European ancestor on the male lineage.

And because it was quite common for white male slave owners to bed and have children with female slaves in the pre-Civil War America,

... there is a non-trivial probability that Moses Malone had a white slave-owning ancestor given, as per my original response, the ethnic etymology of his surname. (See link in original response.)
At the same time, there is no credible information suggesting that Malone was Jewish despite being named after Let-My-People-Go Moses.

Which is why I originally responded...
Meaning, the probability that Moses Malone had an Irish great-something grandpappy is greater than the probability of he was one of the Chosen People.
