How popular are the Station Casino Resorts?

Apparently I didn't get the memo or I'm doing something wrong. I'm trying to plan a trip to Vegas in December for the wife and I "that just so happens" to be the weekend of the McGregor Aldo UFC fight. I used Expedia to get a general idea of what the rates are for the 4 nights on the strip and I see a few deals il that I can live with Paris, Mirage or Monte Carlo for between $60-$130 a night. So I tried to think out of the box a little and Looked up what a room at Red Rock and Green Valey would cost.......

    $450-$500 a night.

    GTFO with that shit.

What am I missing here? These places really that nice? They actually get that many people to pay that much $$?

Green Valley is the flagship hotel in the station chain. Although Red Rock is nicer it's WAY THE FUCK OUT THERE.

They are really nice properties but for that kind of scratch it's way overpriced.

450-500 a night for that place is a rip off. Is there some kind of convention in town or something? At those rates, you should be able to get a standard room at the Wynn, Bellagio, Palazzo and many others that are infinitely better.

Paris ,Mirage and Monte Carlo are nothing special but at least they are close to everything. Monte Carlo is connected to the Aria and Paris is kind of in the middle of it all. Mirage is a good location as well.

I would take Mirage out of all those.

    Daly, check pm's.

GVR used to be the flagship station resort until Redrock was built around 2005.

The reason why the prices are so high for RR are because people will pay them. Most of the occupants during the week are staying for conventions in the Summerlin area (where RR is located). They have a ton of convention space for a locals casino. There is actually a big market for people that want to hold there meetings and conventions in an area that is far removed from the strip.

RR is a self sufficient resort. Besides the normal resort amenities such as a spa and gambling, they have a 20+ screen movie theater, bowling alley, 20+ restaurants (including a huge food court), night clubs, shopping and it is right behind a new project that opened up last year called Downtown Summerlin http://www.downtownsummerlin.com/.

Brandon gave great info above, so I have nothing to add.

However, I should point out that you really don't want to stay in the upper-tier station resorts if your plan is to spend time on the strip. Just too damn far.

Honestly you don't even feel like you're in Vegas out there. Feels more like you're in some small town's large Indian casino.
