iPhone stops bullet, saves man's life

According to the Fresno Police Department, the victim was approaching his home when he was approached by an unidentified man who attempted to steal his laptop bag. The thief brandished a black semi-automatic handgun and then fired one shot at the victim, which struck the iPhone 5s in his pocket, rather than entering his body.
    See this for more details.

The phone was in his pants pocket, according to stories with actual details. It saved him a lot of trouble and pain, but it did not save his life.

I would agree that the article title should have read "possibly saved". But a*gunshot wound in the thigh can severe the femoral artery, resulting in a quick death due to a rapid and difficult to treat bleed out. Here's such a case.

Also, see the diagram for the location of that artery.
