I was expecting more from Howard. I know he is a compassionate pussy deep-down, but he needs to channel his radio personality a little more. He has been allowing too many people to go through. He may have jumped the shark when he went on stage to hug the seven-year-old rapper.

I thought that too but then I realized it's the editing. They cut so much out - you don't get to see all the people he turns away or the more edgy things he says. I do agree with you that putting that one old guy 'rapper" through was ludicrous.

The acts that made it to New York (the live shows) that are ludicrous and never should have made it:
1) The Love Boat singer
2) The short, old dude that can't sing worth shit (Howie likes him for some inexplicable reason)
The acts that should have made it to New York, but were sent home:
1) The opera singing Emo dude (yes he choked on his second audition but he should have been given another chance - better by far than either of the above two idiots)
2) The black girl who did the aerial acts (hung by her neck and did an amazing and graceful piece second audition)
The acts I like the best:
1) Mariachi kid (Jesus - what a voice on that kid)
2) The black girl and her father (singing duo - obv she is going to be a star - must lose the dad eventually though)
3) The dogs show people (so damn cute and entertaining - no idea if it's a million dollar act but I love it)
4) The guy that makes his instruments and strings them across the entire theater
5) The older comedian guy who has been doing stand up for years, but somehow never made it big
6) The beautiful girl with the pretty sultry voice and her guitar accompanist who isn't getting any nookie (she sang a unique, bluesy arrangement of "Moves Like Jagger" her first audition)

I haven'y watched the show since season 1 or 2. I have watched every episode this season and Howard does a good job. This is a prime time FAMILY t.v. show on NBC, so he has to hold back a lot.
I like some of the acts and some are just shitty like VWLS said....the old short guy that sounds horrible. I mean how the fuck did he make it through?
the dogs win but the runner-up tom cotter is god.
and i'd says his highlight of the series:
