New England is made up of six states.
It's like saying, "I am going out west to watch the fires"
Can you be more specific? Or are you that open to ideas?
Headed to Bar Harbor Maine Friday for long weekend.
Acadia National Park. Mt. Desert Island & Cadillac Mountain.
Sunrise is first seen on Cadillac Mountain in US.
Martha Stewart always invites me over to her house in Bar Harbor.
Very remote woodsy feel. Very New England. Still a lot of money though. Rockefeller influence (land grants etc.) is felt all over the area/national parks. Lotta old money. Lotta artsy bohemian stuff.
Gotta google peak fall color.
Maine is famous for the blueberry season and picking. I think I just missed this.
Wife likes it up there. Guess you would too. I am just the driver this trip.
Visit Chinamaniac, sfobv. Go to Moby Dicks on the Cape and eat lobstah.
New Hampshire
Lake Winnepausakee. Stay at Mills Falls, Meredith. Right across street from the lake. There is a dock and bars across street.
You can get a ride on Lady of the Lake sightseeing boat. Mountains surround. In fall color, beautiful. Lotta ski resorts on these mountains. Gunstock to name one.
Need a boating license to go out yourself.
I got a place above Meredith.
Cape Cod (all over)
Portsmouth, NH
Kittery, ME
White Mountains, NH
Burlington, VT
Bar Harbor, ME
if you can get to any of those areas, you should enjoy yourself.
Let me know if and when you and China come up to Meredith. I am going to Naples & Key West this fall for a bit. Gotta see if my heterosexuality can survive a few days down there.
But I got a boat and its fun to run around the lake and sight see the crazy million dollar homes from the water and if you got the time I'd be a host for the day.
Your stalker,
Sanlmar
if you are driving and are in Boston be sure to "pahk the cah in Hahvahd Yahd"
the mansions in Newport, Rhode Island might be an interesting tour if you want to see how the super rich lived in the gilded age
personally I would head to Gun Valley to tour the factories of Smith & Wesson, Ruger, Mossberg, Marlin Arms, and many many more (its heaven on earth for a gun nut)

"America is not so much a nightmare as a non-dream. The American non-dream is precisely a move to wipe the dream out of existence. The dream is a spontaneous happening and therefore dangerous to a control system set up by the non-dreamers." -- William S. Burroughs
The best lobster I ever had was at some shack on the coast in Maine. I don't think there was anything special about the place, I'm assuming the coast is littered with places just like it. I'm guessing the secret was that the lobster was caught the same day.
I'm not sure if it's acceptable to walk your dog on the Freedom Trail, but it's wild to walk it and see how small Boston really is.
Boston is also super racist so you might actually meet a guy you like.
Walking a dog on the freedom trail can be done easily.
I never heard of Boston being racist. The white people here just think they are better than everyone else.
Fall foliage in New England tends to be weak in mid-September. You won't see much unless you go to the higher elevations. Some of this has to do with how cold the nights are (the colder they are, the earlier the colors start), but in general, you won't see much in mid-September unless you drive higher.
Druff is right if by "higher" he means "farther north". As in northwestern Vermont. See this website for a mapped forecast this year by weeks.
