Are you assuming our two cultures are alike?
We have some cultures that really need to be eviscerated. Its not like we are proud of them.
It's hilarious that we as a society think everyone can be a dr, a lawyer, an engineer. Some people are just fucking stupid. Why can't we just accept that?
We are violent motherfuckers.
The US rose from essentially nothing just a few hundred years ago, and unfortunately violence has always been part of the country's culture.
That can't be changed overnight (though violent crime has dropped sharply in the past 25 years), and you can't compare European crime rates, police shootings, or gun crime versus the United States.
Apples and oranges.
Rather than talking about what the US "should" be like, there should be real solutions proposed to improve things. Taking guns away from law abiding citizens isn't a solution that will improve things. It will decrease spree killings and spontaneous murders, but increase home invasion violence, muggings, and robberies of stores.
Question: Why doesn't the media ever report on the surprising decrease in violent crime in the US since 1991? If you don't look it up yourself, you would believe from the media's hysteria that everything is getting WORSE by the day, rather than better.

In the above stats, notice that the US had fewer murders per 100,000 people (4.5) in 2013 than any year since the 1950s.
There are no stats above for 2014 and 2015, but they are either similar or lower.
2015 is ongoing, so we won't see stats for awhile.
This report on the first half of 2014 shows that crime was on pace to even be LOWER that year than 2013: https://www.fbi.gov/news/pressrel/pr...stics-for-2014
It could be changed, all we have to do is figure out a way to get rid of all the spooks.
Uhhh... The statistic in the OP is highly "skewed" because cops in Great Britian usually don't carry guns.

So, yeah. It is "apples and oranges".
