The fat and skinny perception between sexes in the media

Weird phenomena in the media... The difference in the way they perceive a fat woman vs a fat man, and on a smaller scale a skinny woman vs a skinny man (and a fat woman).

You NEVER see the media calling a woman out for being overweight. It's always how "women should feel beautiful in their own skin, all women are beautiful, blah, blah, blah", but then when a guy is overweight you get the sudden health concerns. Case in point:

    http://www.lifeandstylemag.com/posts...ght-gain-62755

Meanwhile, the media has no problem calling women out who are too thin...

    http://radaronline.com/photos/too-sk...photo/1020975/

Granted, the majority of these women are in fact too thin, but why do the fat women never get called out? They have no problem calling out the fat men, but women are "beautiful no matter how overweight they are". Fuck that!!! Do any of you find this picture "empowering" or "beautiful"?...

Disclaimer: Even though flat asses covered in cellulite can be disgusting, vegas1369 in no way is suggesting that overweight women can't be attractive, and has been known to dabble on the "thicker" side from time to time. This post is just to simply point out another extreme bias in the media.

I did not read your thread, but that picture is NSFW. Fucking disgusting. You are better than this, posting NSFW pictures. I am going to puke now. Thanks for ruining my evening.

It's hilarious that we as a society think everyone can be a dr, a lawyer, an engineer. Some people are just fucking stupid. Why can't we just accept that?

There's a growing community of obese women that reject various inconvenient medical and scientific claims, such as obesity being linked to heart disease and the concept of calories in calories out.

    http://www.haescommunity.org/

You a hear a lot of these people complain about discrimination and privilege, because being obese isn't a lifestyle choice. Diets don't work and it's all caused by genetic conditions.

As far as media stuff goes, it's mostly just pandering. The fat demo is too large to ignore. It's a great way to sell soap and records.

The Dove "campaign for real beauty" was obnoxious because the "real women" appearing in those ads had various features photoshopped.

I'm personally not into skinny women, but also not into obese women (such as the ones in vegas1369's picture).

It is true, however, that being too skinny (to the extreme where women are typically called out for it) can be more unhealthy than being too fat.

The media is a joke when it relies on filler stories. NPI. They go with the trend and will say the opposite in 5 years.

One thing about televised media, news mainly, is the attempt to present the perfect persona......not too thin, but certainly not too fat.

Also, guys will be "good to go", say no more, if they are called out as fat. However, "the one who must be obeyed",

already has a list of reasons to shut you down and

being called fat must be very near the top.

I'd like to know what the obese numbers are comparing women to men. You realize that food is a drug. It provides nutrition but also stimulates certain receptors

that produce pleasure....or whatever you want to call it. That chemical reaction is simply human and is available in many forms. Remove knowledge about the food they eat,

make cheap food plentiful and you're going to have some abusers, and a lot of them will come from poverty of some kind.

Probably not as bad as some street drugs but I'm not so sure considering what happens in the long run.

Looks to be exactly the same for each gender. I single out women because it's mostly them perpetuating fat acceptance and its pseudoscience. Perhaps because they're under more societal pressure to be physically attractive. Fat men mostly seem to accept that they're fat because they eat too much and exercise too little, and don't lose as much sleep over it.

I also thought that there was some correlation between obesity and poverty, but according to the CDC, that's only the case for white and hispanic women.
