    Bovada Poker Points Question

How should I be spending my Bovada poker points to get the best rate of return? SNG's tournaments, what? It would seem that spreading around in lower buy in SNG's would be optimal and give more chances to turn these into cash, or should I be saving these for playing larger buy in events less often? (I know Druff has to have a strategy on how to maximize ROI from these points).

    Actually, I don't.

I do have a shitload of these. I think I have like 60,000 or more (and they're worth a penny each for tourney buyins).

In the old days, you used to be able to cash these in for direct money, but they killed that years ago.

It depends what your goal is here. If you want less variance, then yes, buy in to lower SNGs. However, that will be time consuming, and you will also spend more on rake (with your points), as the bigger buyin tournies are raked less.

Of course, the bigger buyin tournies have WAY more variance, as you could spend all of your points on one or two of them, brick, and come up with nothing.

As I am a high limit player there, I am not going to waste my time grinding low limit SNGs simply to reduce the variance on the return of my points.

Actually, I hate online tournies so much that I have only played one tourney so far. I bought into one of those Sunday events there, spent a large portion of the day playing, and cashed like $400. And, I mean, that's better than bricking, but it felt weird to be playing 30-60 limit at the same time and winning the same $400 with ace high in a single hand.

I wish the poker points were transferable. I would totally sell them at a discounted rate to someone who wanted to play a tourney there. I get about zero enjoyment from online tournaments. I don't want to give my account to someone to play them for two reasons. First, I have a lot of money in the account, so I'd really have to trust the person. Second, I wouldn't want to get in trouble with Bovada for breaking the TOS by doing this, so it's not worth it.

So that's why my poker points just sit.

Druff, I understand your premise as a business perspective. I don't know how bovada works but if the have a large monthly tournament, that has to be kinda worth it. After all it's "free".

Thanks for the reply. That is pretty much what I was thinking as well, I will probably burn most of these on SNG's and try to to get some value out of these and maybe take a few shots at tournaments (although I agree with you that there is nothing worse than spending hours playing a tournament and not cashing even if it is a freeroll).

Either the Sunday $100k GTD or the Mad Monday tournaments if they have seats for them in the ticket store are probably the best value unless you want a bunch of smaller ones to play mtts or sngs.

I wish you could still cash them in as well for real money. If you tell Bovada you want to use the poker points money value to bet on sports or play the casino I wonder if they would make a one time exception? Of course if you don't turn around and do either of these if they did give cash then they probably would get real pissed.
