    Milwaukee gambling

A few buddies & I decided to ditch work tomorrow and run up to Milwaukee. One guy needs to pick up a new loader outside Rockford. We go on random baseball trips and need to hit Milwaukee still.

So I found the Potawatomi casino online. Anyone ever been there? The website currently shows 10 tables spreading low limit, no limit, Big O, and Rd by Rd which I assume is a mixed game.

    Input?

It's hilarious that we as a society think everyone can be a dr, a lawyer, an engineer. Some people are just fucking stupid. Why can't we just accept that?

Been there a bunch of times. Games are soft. Bunch of idiots who don't know how to play and it gets frustrating. Haven't played there in a while, but I doubt much has changed.

Poto is the shit... they almost always have a 5/5 pl omaha game going which is surprisingly soft and gets pretty deep
Other than that its 3/5 nl

Yup, spot on. "frustrating" sums it up. I said fuck it and stopped going there. I played there a number of times but haven't been in there in at least 5 years. It seemed as though that it didn't matter what amount I bet...half the table would call anyway. For reference I think it was 2/5nl and the max buyin at the time (again i think) was 400 or 600.

IMO, Statistically though a good player with a big enough roll would/should be able to do well at these tables if they spent enough time.

a little confusing to me how any serious poker player would ever complain about playing against terrible players

seems to me that is pretty much the most accurate definition of 'optimal conditions'

If that's true, why not just wait until you flop something very hard to crack like a set or straight, and go all in?

sorry i didnt respond sooner - computer kept locking up and had to switch

That is a very good question though and you are right. I did precisely this however on a majority of the occasions i visited. For reference I went there maybe 12-15 times total. I shit you not, if I for example had a set, somebody had a better set or a straight by the time the rest of the cards ran...nearly every fucking time. Im saying, if it was a 9 person table, more than half would call anything anytime. Yes, on every day of the week, this should have been gold for me or anyone else. But Gordmans luck apparently dictated that somehow someway someone would luckbox their way through it. Yes, I did screw up though; My flaw was that I just didn't bring a big enough roll with me and stay long enough; I would bring approx $1k-$1.5k with me. What can I say, I was an idiot structuring it like that - im certainly not perfect.

I think the complaint is the variance is too high due to the terrible players. So essentially he was playing above his roll.

But perhaps it also was the only game in town....so he'd prefer a tight 2/5 NL game that would better suit his style and bankroll.

Well ya if the players are that bad borrow some from a friend, take 50% of your own action, etc, etc.

Tyde with all this poker talk going on you really should take down a big tourney.

I "get" this point of view a little better then most. The 5-10 NL with 100-300 buy in at my local card room in south Florida is one of the best games I have ever played in. I try to keep a running blog about some of the ridiculous hands I play and see there in the poker news part of this site. Now with that being said you will go through streaks where variance just kicks you in the balls. You get it in 5 times with Q-Q and get called by 7-7 and A-J and the set or ace hits. Obviously if you are objective you would pay someone to run that same hand 100 times with you, but the night when you fire four/five bullets Into the game and you keep losing your 80/20's as well as the flips it can drive a player nuts.

not really into poker right now

    other things going on

not exactly a 'steady' type of player anyway...never have been really

it's important for me to enjoy playing and be 'hungry' for chips

if I play too much I just get flat, burned out, and almost lose interest altogether in the game and start making poor decisions

I tend to win in streaks

be back grinding more often in a few weeks maybe

I don't think he meant it's annoying playing with bad players. Moreso hates playing with "how much can we bet?" types.

This whole place is built on 10 levels of sarcasm and trying to remember who hates who at this moment. I don't know if you are serious or not.

"Oh, here comes that cannonball guy. He's cool." "Are you being sarcastic, dude?" "I don't even know any more."
